thekoko007: You are right, it would be a nice thing to do. But first we have to keep this forum active, get updates and also bring in latest happenings in our own local league. We can keep this thread active, I know about 6 consistent members here, tho I am new here. If we can keep the thread alive, everything to u have mentioned is very possible. |

I think we will be ranked 17 or 18 after the Canada vs Germany game. They are the two teams closest to us. I think only one of them has the chance of getting ahead of us. But I doubt they will catch us self. So it looks like we will be ranked 17th. Nigeria 8 points +54 diff Germany 6 points +39 diff Canada 6 points +38 diff They play each other next. I don’t think New Zealand has a chance to pass us. Take a look at the images. 1 Like

TheSuperNerd: Its not so Nerdy boy. The NBBF is a lazy organization that won't lift a finger to ensure good outing. To even source for good sponsorship is a problem. Of only we had half an Amaju at the helm of affairs at NBBF (and I'm not saying Amaju is a saint ooo). 1 Like |

darkelf: Not so fast with the downer prophecies. This team is a top 10 top 15 team as at today. The occasion got to some of the young guys (Ike Ireogbu & Jordan especially) against Russia & our tournament was over before it started. They played without fear vs Argentina & grew as the tournament progressed. They will be much better next year. What can however push this team to a medal is that 3-5 top range key additions are possible. Jahlil Okafor is one of the most skilled offensive players out there & is primed to have a good NBA season. If we can get him, he will solve all the paint scoring issues from set plays (not just fast breaks) & adds an extra 10 points per game to the team while averaging around 20 points. Udoka Azubuike can be the best big man in college if healthy. A legit 7 footer and a defensive force. With him, the likes of Scola will be silent against Nigeria. Charles Bassey is another upcoming big man. He & Udoka should be 1st round NBA picks next year. Ayo Dosunmu could also be a 1st round pick next year. He could have gone pro this year after 1 college season, but decided to stay in school. OG Anunoby will be huge if we can get him. Adds to the wing play, athleticism & the 3 ball defence. The team can get better & will be a lot more experienced. Depending on who commits, a run at a medal is possible. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Okafor is currently representing the USA. I don’t think he will be eager to switch to Nigeria. LagosEconomist:

kris: Yes it is and it's very possible. This thread right here is like a baby in our hands, if we all keep the thread going, believe me it will keep growing. There is the possible to have new members daily because as we keep posting, the thread stays active on the sport section of Nairaland. If we can keep positive and keep the conversations active, we can Bebe one happy basketball family. The NBA section is like that too, very active and we have dedicated members there. We can push for the thread to hit front page regularly too. People will keep trooping in and the thread will be big. @Naymer, Biko no vex for Nigeria again, these boys will make you proud. Please just give these boys a chance and they won't fail you. Trust the process |

kris: This is lovely. But don't you think opening another platform for now will weaken this forum? Or unless we keep our conversation active on both. Although what you have done is really awesome because this here is a faceless forum. Is the new forum running now? Can we start registering? |
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread - Onward To The Afrobasket by KNIGHTBlaed(m): 5:01am On Sep 09, 2019 |
PDPGuy: The NBBF is not serious, otherwise we have a lot of players they can convince to play for us. We are blessed with talented players all over the world and we have our boys doing it big in the NBA |

A thread dedicated to Nigeria basketball team on nairaland is fine. The thread should not have a time limit, hence, so it can keep growing. As regards the supporters team, I think we have a supporters team already, as I have seen a few Nigerian matches in the past(qualifiers to this world cup held in Surulere). So anyone willing to support can approach them or go to national stadium, Surulere to get those answers. |
