Xenophobia: Don’t Empower Returnees With N10,000 Trader Moni, Sani Tells Osinbaj by Gbgists(op): 9:45am On Sep 10, 2019
Human rights activist and former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has urged Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo not to empower returnees from South Africa with N10,000 Trader Moni.

The former Kaduna senator said this in a tweet on Sunday.

Sani said the Federal Government should come up with a resettlement plan that would allow the victims of xenophobia to feel compensated.

He wrote, “The FG should make adequate arrangements and give reasonable support to Nigerians who decided to return home and begin a new life..and abeg don’t even think of linking them up with VP’s tradermoni 10k..biko!”

At least 400 Nigerians are said to have returned to the country following the Federal Government’s directive that all victims of xenophobia are free to return to the country.

Nigerian airline, Air Peace, is said to be rendering its services free of charge.

For ppl who lost their livelihood and investments, all I'm sure dey need is for d govt to get their South African counterparts to compensate dem for their losses... I'm sure dey'll know how to start life if dey get back their monies dey lost

There is nothing wrong with Government empowering Nigerians who voluntarily took business risk to go to South Africa for their hustles but are currently forced back home due to hostile environment.

However, what about empowering those Nigerians who voluntarily took patriotic business risk to stay back in Nigeria to help grow the economy with their hustles but are currently struggling to survive due very difficult environment: internal displacement due to armed insurgency and violence, sudden fire outbreaks in markets, demolition exercises, etc?

Dilemmahuh

Its not easy to see your life investment burnt down while you stand helpless, South Africa is not a country, Time and energy plus money all lost, Hope Nigeria government won't send the victims to early grave with fake promises.
