Chelsea also won the same competition in 2013 and were crowned champions of Europe in 2012 when Roberto Di Matteo was manager.

Arsenal are also above Manchester United in tenth and North London neighbours Tottenham who sit 12th - despite reaching the Champions Legue final and finishing above the Gunners in the league.

Liverpool fans be scratching their heads as to why they are eighth despite lifting the Champions League trophy in June.

Club coefficients are based on the results of clubs competing in the last five seasons of the Champions League and Europa League.
Points are awarded to teams playing in Europe based on their results and are then totalled up over the last five years.

Arsenal have 81 while Chelsea have picked up 70 because they were not involved in Europe in the 2016/17 campaign after finishing tenth.

Real Madrid sit top of the pile with 121 points, ahead of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester City fal behind while Paris Saint-Germain round up the top ten.
