Exactly my thought. I've seen guys do that a lot in real life. They have a female friend who visits them at their place, but it's nothing romantic. His friends who arr aware of the visits suddenly start assuming that they are banging, instead of the guy to debunk it, he keeps quiet and let the friends carry on with the rumour.
This way, his ego is inflated qhile he can safely say it wasnt him that started the rumour when the girl finds out.
