Many states across the country will witness more floods following the rise in the water levels of Nigeria ’ s two major rivers – River Niger and River Benue , the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency declared on Monday .

NIHSA is the Federal Government’ s agency that has the mandate of monitoring all the major rivers in Nigeria including the trans - boundary rivers Niger and Benue , among other functions .
The agency stated that one of the latest information it received on September 6 , 2019 , from the headquarters of the Niger Basin Authority in Niamey, Niger Republic , confirmed steady rise into the Red Alert Zone up to 6 . 26 metres of the flood level of River Niger monitored in Niamey.

The Director- General , NIHSA , Clement Nze , explained that flood alerts were graded as Yellow Alert , 5 . 5 m to 5 . 8 m ; Orange Alert , 5 . 8 m to 6 . 2 m; and Red Alert , 6 . 2 m and above .
Details to come …

This government will never say the truth. It's not only Rivers Niger and Benue, but all major rivers that have dams. Here in the West, the Ogun River has risen beyond normal level and has affected some parts of Lagos including areas like Magodo, Kara, Owode, Alapere, Ajegunle along Ikorodu road.

They open these dams recklessly and everywhere becomes flooded, but they'll rather shift the blame on rain.

Government of lies and half truths.

What's the Agency doing to prevent the impending danger?
Year to year, the federal government can't do anything to prevent the flooding like other civilized countries do.
Nigeria have the money to curtail or contain the flood, yet Jubril alias Buhari can't consider averting the loss of lives the flood will destroy, but rather prefer grabbing lands to build Fulani settlement (RUGA) in all states.
What a clueless government?
Jubril alias Buhari is a selfish, nepotic ,tribalist ,ethnic bigotry clueless tyrant.
To be frank, that man Jubril don't care about loss of Nigerian lives because he's not a Nigerian.
People should wake up from slumber, check record of Nigerians killed in Nigeria and outside Nigeria and see if Buhari have ever reacted or acted as a true Nigerian leader.

why can't this agency work in conjunction with nimet, at least nimet shd be able to give forecast of storm surges then the dam would have been opened earlier when the rain is just more of monsoon rain with less intensity thus accommodating more water during these periods. they only warn at a time when nothing can be done about it

I notice it from the recent incessant rain that has been falling recently.

From all indications, flood is imminent but what proactive approach or measures is undertaken by our so called leaders for this warning.

Nothing i must say!!!

Always paying less attentions to the peoples demand and welfare just like Governor Ayade who has allowed Calabar to become a swam of gullible potholes and he is parading himself as a digital governor...!

Proffessor that have no moral standard of speaking the truth in the morning...! Big scam i must say

Very good. However, reading attentively show that you dont have knowledge and you claim to have. That happens to be worst than been an idiot.
