A lot of people are battling depression in Nigeria, if we were white facing this hardship 70% would have been gone now: so sad they both took what they considered the easy way out never to know what tomorrow would have brought. Without challenges maybe life won’t be so interesting, it only makes you stronger. Hard time would pass if you remain strong. Only the strong survives especially growing up in Africa, trust me if your weren’t strong maybe mosquitos would have killed you before you even turned 4.

And before you say Jack our primitive society makes it look like giving birth is an achievement all must undertake. Why should people begin families they aren't ready to sacrifice to stick with? Rather than taking proactive steps, she prayed about it....... Our obsession with religion, is truly alarming.........

Is it that suicide is becoming more popular due to western exposure or that news coverage is more detailed on it since it is no longer a taboo subject?

until recently I dont remember hearing of any suicide in Nigeria apart from Okonkwo from Things Fall apart

This generation is so mentally weak... I apologize if this sounds harsh, but there is no easier or more delicate way to frame it.

Something must be wrong with our societal values, and doctrines being propagated especially on Social media... How did we get to the point where any emotional challenge, or financial issue, suicide becomes an easy option??!.. Everyone is just typing RIP, and moving on as if it's nothing new... This is not the Nigeria I knew as a child, not the negroes I saw growing up... Are these the set of spineless individuals we are left with for the unborn children to look up to??!... This trend is beyond worrisome!!!

Love is a good elixir for depression though
