Every year, we're reviving things on paper alone with nothing to show forth. I hope this one will be different sha but hoping has taken us nowhere.

This sabo nanano honestly looks like someone that is hungry for loot spoils... But on a lighter note; it's a good move(if it's not yet another propaganda agenda). There are so many areas govt could lay focus on to expand our public industry... Fabric is one, 2. agriculture, 3. Tourist centres(we underestimate tourism in this country, we fail to understand that this is a very good catalyst to any society), we have culture, we have marvellous site people can visit, we have almost everything... We're just over blessed as a country we just don't see it.

This is actually not achievable without adequate power supply. It should be first thing first, let's not build a superstructure on a faulty foundation else it will come back to hurt us the more. Nigeria a supposed giant of Africa still groping in darkness in this 21st century is something to really be ashamed of, let's not try to place the cat before the horse, let's solve electricity problem first after that we can start making attempt at reviving all our dead industries, not just the textile alone.

Despirado121:
The Federal Government has reinstated its commitment towards reviving the Cotton, Garment and Textile industry to create more employment opportunities for Nigerians, Igbere TV reports.

This was made known in a statement released on Friday, September 20th on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, obtained by Igbere TV.

Giving the assurance, the Minister said;

“From 1985 to 1986, our textile industry was in good shape. During this period, Nigeria’s textile materials were one of the best in Africa and beyond until importation of textile into the country between 1987 to 1990, which has led us to the state we are now.

“Textile, garment and cotton industry are the core of the Agro-Allied industry. The industry is capable of employing hundreds of thousands of people across the country, especially in Kano, Kaduna, Aba, Lagos, and some other key areas.”

“In the process of reviving the textile industry, an estimate of approximately N1 trillion is projected by the Federal Government for a complete turn-around of the nation’s industry,” he added.

This will be a smart move to stem the tides of unemployment in the country if only is not one of those airy promises.
Re: FG Moves To Revive Cotton, Textile Industries by Nobody: 4:26pm On Sep 21, 2019
Even though it's late it's better done than not to even try.
We saw the separation of works ministry and power ministry for the first time in Nigeria.Lagos-kano standard gauge rail awarded.Border has been closed to uplift local capacity in Agriculture.If the spirit of ecowas isn't in our interest because of the smuggled goods dump in Nigeria,let the borders remain closed.Cotton,textile revitalization is a right step.

Sunofgod:
1 trillion?

A beg hand the project to the Chinese. They'll revive the industry for a fraction of that!

Thieves!
That is the worst thing to do. The textile industry in Nigeria was DELIBERATELY brought down by thesame Asians after ensuring that favourable bi-lateral agreements have been reached between them and Nigeria. So they prefferably removed the aspect of production of textile causing closure of our existing textiles, which threw thousands out of job and turned Nigeria into a mere selling point for all their own fabrics . lt will be disastrous to invite any Asian to come revive any textile in Nigeria , as l am more than 100% sure they will come , syphone the fund by laundering through the payment of the so-called expetraites and in a twinkle of an eye they are gone and Nigeria is back to square one. If the FG really mean business ,they only need to search for indigenous textile experts (l am one) and use them to revive the moribond textile mills.
