2023: NOTHING WRONG PRESIDENCY REMAINING IN NORTH –ANGO ABDULLAHI.

Former Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and leader of Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) and ex-Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof Ango Abdullahi, said that part of the trouble with Nigeria is that the elite do not keep documents and have politicised everything as critical evaluation of positions of different ethnic groups in the country showed that the North has been short-changed as key positions were not with them.

He said that the much noise on lopsidedness that favoured the North was not true, insisting that there was nothing wrong with the appointment of more Service Chiefs from the region, arguing that other ethnic groups have enjoyed it before now without the North complaining.

In a recently interview with Sunday Sun he insisted that there was nothing wrong with the presidency remaining in the North in 2023 if Nigerians decide so through majority votes.

His words: “What we are witnessing is a sad development, very dangerous arguments that are being put forward. How many offices are we even talking about and you are saying lopsidedness of offices?

“Have you looked at the offices in the civil service and those that occupy them, so what is the fuss all about? Are they parochial or are they biased in the discharge of duties concerning other parts of the country?

“This is a very sad development because this is driving us into areas that will be very unfortunate for this country.

“The trouble with Nigeria is that we don’t learn from our history and we don’t keep records of history. I have just done an exercise in a booklet form to show appointments of the First Republic since independence in 1960 to date, to show who was in what office and from what area, from what religious faith?

“By the time you see it, you will be sorry asking this kind of question because the question appears to be parochial by those who have such a view and should not arise”

Rubbish! Nobody is stopping the Southeast or southsouth from gunning for the presidency. The hypocrisy is ridiculously sickening. Every northerner that has been interviewed keep saying the same things, even those in apc........that northerners will also contest the 2023 presidential election. So who exactly made a promise of 2023 presidency to the sw?

It is so glaring that the North will not relinquish power in 2023.The North is capitalising on the disunity of the South.The two major ethnic groups in the South will hardly agree with each other and the North knows this, so they are using this to their full advantage.

They've known this right from the 60s! During the uncivil war, they knew all they had to do was to find a few daft, greedy and bigoted turncoats bristling with hate and suspicion for Igbos and the war was as good as 'won'! I wouldn't go into mentioning names, but we all know southerners who helped the core muslim north but later lived to regret their actions!

I dont care if the northerners reclaim power as long as the election is not rigged.
