The price of the most common commodity eaten by all strata of the Nigerian society has as at today increased by an unbelievable but real 30-35% depending on the type you are buying.
Paint size was about N1500 just 3months ago,today it's between N1850 and N2000!
This is the next level Buhari promised all:those that didn't vote for him, those that didn't bother to vote at all and those that also voted for him!
This is still part 1,those that supported him would also hopefully be alive to witness parts 2,3 or even 4.
At this rate by December Nigerians may be buying a bag of rice between N30,000-N35,000.

Enter farm and go grow your rice if e pepper you, man shall not live by rice alone and if you insist then pay the price.
As per price sef, I pray it gets to 50-70k per bag so that Nigerians would stop creating jobs for Asian farmers, we need those Jobs more.

It's very obvious you don't even understand the implications from your post.
I also don't see the need enlightening you since you don't understand the basics you would find it extremely difficult understanding the broader implications.

Let me ask you a simple question?
Can Nigeria cultivate enough rice to feed it's population?
Why do you think no one complains about cassava used in making eba,and yam and why we don't import those, including other examples like tomatoes, onions, pepper etc?
It's simply because we produce those in sufficient quantities.
Now the prices have gone astronomically high because the demand that hasn't increased is no longer being met by adequate supply.
Finally,to show the level of ineptitude being displayed on a daily basis by this dullard-in-chief in Chief and the embarrassment to which ar se lickers put yourself in with your comments,do you know that China and America, two of the world's highest producers of rice, still import about 10% of their rice needs each?
Of course you wouldn't know because knowledge and critical assessment of the government are too tasking for your type of brain.

Nigeria is/was the largest importer of tomatoes in the world, even though it produces large enough quantities, as you have pointed out in this comment. Why would a nation produce so much and still have to import so largely?- Lack of adequate and effective processing and storage facilities. This is where the govt and concerned stakeholders ought to look into before sealing off the boarders.

You think the way to create those jobs is by shutting down another source of income spinner for the govt?

You don't have to ban importation of rice. All you have to is to encourage local production and it will drive those imported rice out.

Government will earn so much from the section of the population that will stick to imported rice and again, locally produced ones will be cheaper and also have mass demand.

But today, the difference between local and foreign is just 2k and the price of local rice will continue to grow instead of decreasing.

Foreign rice under Jonathan was 8k but local rice today is 18k
Re: Next Level Part 1: Rice Price Up 30% In <3months! by ede1(m): 10:11am On Oct 01, 2019
The solution to this is just a simple economics .Let all the land borders remain closed until our neighboring countries learn our to secure their borders against smuggling . We can't be exporting employment and be importing unemployment. As per the high cost of rice this is just temporary pain we all have to face. As the sector is becoming more attractive, more private own investment will begin to go into local rice production and that will make the market more competitive and that will eventually bring about price reduction in the long run, and as well create more jobs for our youth as the country will become self dependence on food production. so it's a win win for us all. So you see my brother It's not every policy you criticize. As a people we should be ready for some sacrifices. Nigeria must kick start..either by pushing or by jump starting.

How do you encourage local production of rice when smugglers and Nigerians have all sworn to buy and eat anything foreign rice. My guy wake up, we need a bold decision like this to to boost local production of rice. This administration has pumped a lot of money into local production of rice with CBN giving out massive loans but those yeye neighboring countries, smugglers plus people like you that want to continue with foreign rice won't allow government policy to work.
If I be Buhari oo, I will close the boarders for 2yrs and you will see how Nigerians will start patronizing local rice, in fact our market will be flooded with local rice, jobs will be created, the price will also crash with time and Thailand rice will go into oblivion. See my guy, in life "No Pain, No gain". Let's support our own, we complain a lot.

We have good soils that can support the cultivation of rice but we've all turned to foreign rice dependants. The boarders should remain shut, we should suffer/endure the present hike in the price of rice, all we need to do is Mount pressure on govt. to provide more funds plus subsidized equipment for rice farmers. If we can grow enough maize to meet our needs as a country, we should also support govt. decisions that will make us grow enough rice that will meet the needs of our country. Pls we all should learn to criticise constructively.

This is the reason I respect Doctorwus a lot now , he really means well for Nigeria , his support for Buhari in 2014 was done in all sincerity but immediately he realized the man had nothing to offer he changed ...I also campaigned and supported Buhari in 2015 to the extent my mum a die hard Jonathan supporter told me that I was make a huge mistake , there is no govt I have prospered under like that of Jonathan but then I fuucked up and went to vote Buhari only to realise 6 months later it was a mistake and since December 2015 I have been a die hard hater of the man .

Have I ever denied supporting Buhari prior to the 2015 presidential elections, against GEJ,based on what I saw as the latter's failings and the former's toga of integrity, and vow to tackle security and corruption issues head-on?No!
But if you would be honest with yourself and carry your internet 'not forgetting' investigation skills further, you would also accept that barely before the end of the same 2015,while others like me that supported him then, were still giving him the benefit of doubt or even supporting him still,I saw him for the scam, fraudulent, nepotic, parochial, incompetent president and monstrous disaster he has turned out to be.
So shift please!

Thank God for Buhari. Thank God for the ruin that is come upon all economic saboteurs and smugglers.

From Abakaliki to Nnewi to Mowe(Ofada) to Kano to Yagba (Kogi State) to Lagis, farmers are smilling to the Bank.

Let Russians come with improved wheat seedlings for Kano, Nasarawa, Borno and Kebbi wheat fields and Nigeria will save another $4bn in FOREX on reduced wheat and flour importation.

The problem with the guy you responded to is that they think that politics is a 'black and white' game....

That you supported Buhari yesterday does not mean you should then be blind to his failings.

At the end of the day, pressure on our leaders, whoever they may be, maketh things better.
