Sadly SA is sliding down the slippery slope… All government SOE's are billions of Rands in debt, with no real way out other than the only option being to start dipping into citizens pension funds. South Africa is bankrupt and foreign companies are not lining up to invest due to the large scale corruption and the fact that despite having a new president, we are yet to see anyone get tried for the State Capture debacle which has crippled our country. President Cyril is just a happy face for a politically, financially and morally broken ANC. With no immigration policy we have seen millions of immigrants arrive in SA, some legitimate refugees, others from failed African states, with little more than the hope of a job. Desperate, they often end up working for less than the local minimum wage. Some say this is why we(South African citizens)have one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. Educated blacks and whites are leaving our shores and that means useful taxable income is being lost and in the end it will mean a smaller tax base being taxed even harder, which may lead to more brain/tax drain..a vicious circle.

Crime is through the roof which has not helped either…Ultimately the people have spoken by voting for the same corrupt political party that their parents voted for, one that has already buried its more honourable struggle heros who put their lives on the line, just for their peoples freedom. We are left with a new wave of politicians who have been in it for money only. The apartheid government stole tax money, yet left the lions share to run a country, the current ANC has taken everything and nobody knows anything. Strange how all politicians are wealthy and now both whites and blacks are struggling to make ends meet. The middle class is almost eroded, just a lower middle and tiny elite it seems are left. Government is about to remove private medical aid companies and intend on creating a socialist medical system where everyone lines up together yet the tiny tax base of 2.1 million(7.6 million registered tax payers, 2.1 expected to contribute in 2019/20.. Where are the rest of them , hopefully not out the back door ?) people will have to pay for the other 53 million as well…a gargantuan task to say the least. This tax burden and fear of a lack of a reliable health system will see the last emigration wave of proud, tax paying South Africans leave. I bet only half the money from taxes for healthcare will actually make it to government bank accounts, as all government SOE's are bankrupt through fraud and mismanagement already. Why should this new government venture be any different ? Western countries that were functional have struggled with reliable socialist care yet a handful of politicians think this is a positive. Our quality doctors have said that if they arent paid private rates, they are off to Aus, US, Canada and we will be left with desperate refugee doctors again working for minimum wage, only because they were denied entry into first world countries-hopefully not because their qualifications were questionable..

If you're coming to SA on holiday, you will have a great time, our weak currency will insure that you are able to eat, sleep and tour like royalty. By contributing to the tourism sector you will be making a small but very positive difference. Tourist hotspots often have lots of security and are not near crime hotspots such as the Cape Flats where 99% of the murders you read about occur. I am a proud South African and for now will be staying , but I'm saving for a time somewhere else, just incase…
