Yankee101:
Include lawyers with 'deep' international contract law knowledge in drafting any Agreement. The last time i checked sovereign nations are immune to prosecution, assets seizure and regular laws in common courts, especially if they invoke national security.

Insert in all contracts the right of the govt to unilaterally withdraw from any contract within resonable boundries of mitigating circumstances. Sh.iiiiittttt! A change in government can torpedo any contract awarded without recourse to due process.

And never submit yourself to outside laws other than your country's. You copy the united states system of govt, why submit yourself to irish or British laws?

Everything you said here is perfect.

However, Nigeria is notorious for always reneging on contracts signed. It has happened over and over given the reason why P&ID and the cabal that time agreed for contact to be under the UK law.

An Oil expert on radio program said that contracts like this have always been one of the ways our elites syphon oil money from the NNPC from inception.

A friend who's doing his MBA in LBS told me that because of this well publicised P&ID issue, there are fears by economists that most foreign companies wanting to do business with our FG may likely include that the contracts must be under the British law.

Including the lady Legal Adviser in NNPC who is awaiting judgment? Corruption has no tribe. Deziani is not a northerner.

This seal was a scam! Case closed...

Bleep them!

Now another irritating thing is nigeria going to a court in Uk. Haba...

Local monkeys... instead of using our courts here to make rulings why go to Uk..

Why can’t we have sense?
Our courts are only for political tribunal ?
Why are we still slaves in modern day?
Our lawyers at last are all charge and bail...... useless.

Ok now are we not about to cough out $450 m

$450m just like that before our appeal is heard.

$250m to the company to be paid in 60 days and $200m to the court to be paid before 14 days or vice versa if I'm not mistaken.

Just another $400m and it'll be equal to $850m that GEJ agreed to be paid to them.

By the time the case is over, we may cough out up to $1bn.

Are we sure that we'll get judgement at the appeal?

I'm not a lawyer but whatever Justice Belgore told them was actually what nailed us and we may finally nail us in the appeal.

Would you pay 850 million dollars for what was fraudulently signed ?

Would you pay 850 million dollars to a company that did NOTHING?

I don't have to be a lawyer to know that, that kind of judgement MUST BE APPEALED.

The only fault of Buhari was that he was too sick in the first 2-3 yeara to worry about the judgement. He was battling for his own life

Many of you have problems with comprehension. Read his statement again. Did he tell you GEJ signed initial agreement? NO! He stated that GEJ signed the agreement for out of court settlement of a fraudulent contract ab initio. He didn't border to check anything because Nigeria interest was not in his heart, especially after losing the election.

I am not a big fan of Buhari, I frankly believe he is a Dullard. BUT....

On reading the Bloomberg article and that of Shoodboi, I was shocked beyond words.

GEJ deliberately signed the agreement to pay these thieves simply because he had lost the election ( he signed 2 months before handover)

Regardless of his flaws, for only this PI& D case, Buhari would forever remain a Hero / Defender of Nigeria.

All the collaborators and collaborators like Alfa Belgore shouldn't just be jailed. They should also be shot publicly.

The 2 links - Shoodboi did an incredible job. Thumbs up!

Your information is watery. If he didn't sign it, we will still complain and trust APC propaganda machine, they will milk the story. It's their strength for propaganda that made them take their eyes off the ball. Why didn't you mention Yaradua that signed the contract in the first place? If your response is Jonathan should have resolved it, then PMB too should have resolved what he met on ground. Jonathan did his best under the circumstances. Before we know now, we will hear that this government has spent 1 billion dollars fighting the case. How much was GEJs settlement? The cost of litigation is high. The contract signed by Yaradua was full of clauses that were difficult to wriggle out of. Please, let's blame the president that signed the contract first.

I always remind people I supported the PMB government coming to power. It was not based on sentiments. If they handled something wrongly, y blame GEJ who we voted out anyway? They were meant to come and resolve challenges and not blame, blame and blame.

It took them 4 years to realize we had a problem? Sad really. Don't be brainwashed on this GEJ is our problem story jare.

Don't mind them. They only comment without any information. They read headlines and that is it!

I saw Shoodboi's article and because it was so long , detailed... i took my time to read it because i was so busy. Coupled with the Bloomberg article, I was shocked.

So Bloomberg is doing propaganda for Buhari? According to you grin

That's amusing. grin cheesy grin

The Bloomberg and Shoodboi article are the exact opposite of WATERY.

You either have a very poor command of English or you don't have the minimum level of intellect to digest simple information.

Both articles were very simple to read, albeit detailed.

The initial deal was signed by a mystery person who couldn't have been a sick Yaradua (President) or GEJ (VP) who had no authority to do so...

The agreement to make the payment for defaulting on the contract (850 million USD) was signed by President GEJ.

Get your facts right...

I don't get it. What's your objective. How will gej sign an agreement to make a spurious payment without an investigation to why there was a default in the first place. Well unless the defaulting and payment was planed in the first place. The scam is even more obvious with gej.

They said we were supposed to deliver gas for them to process but which facility was on ground to receive the gas I suspect that someone knew that this project will not happen and someone I suspect Dezieani is behind these p&id they want to use this money to invest for 2023 elections the government should fight this if people need to die let them die Nigeria should not let this case go just like that

Why didn’t the govt build the facility?
