Leicester ’s top-four credentials will face their sternest possible test with their trip to Anfield to take on
Liverpool this weekend, according to Graeme Souness.
The Foxes moved into third place in the Premier League on Sunday with a 5-0 thrashing of 10-man Newcastle at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy netted a brace with a Ricardo Pereira strike, a Paul Dummett own goal and a Wilfried Ndidi effort putting the Magpies to the sword.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, who spent three years in the Liverpool hotseat, declared post-match that making the top-four would be a “big ask” for the 2015-16 champions.

He said: “It's very early in the season. We know it's a big ask because of all the other clubs that have been regulars there. We are only really focusing on how we play, looking at our performance levels."
Leicester sit two points off of second-placed
Manchester City and three above Chelsea and
Tottenham , who occupied the third and fourth spots last term, with those latter two clubs and Arsenal and
Manchester United all displaying frailties in the first seven matches of the campaign, meaning Rodgers' charges have been talked up as top-four gatecrashers.
But former Liverpool midfielder Souness insists the Midlands outfit cannot be truly judged until they take on table-toppers Liverpool this Saturday (3pm).
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have won all of their seven games this season to sit five points clear of reigning champions City and have won all of their last 16 top-flight matches.
Liverpool have not lost at Anfield, where Leicester earned a 1-1 draw in January as one of just two teams not to lose there alongside City, in 43 league matches in a run stretching back to April 2017.
Souness told Sky Sports: “On the front foot they look fabulous, Leicester. We didn’t see them tested because Newcastle didn’t threaten them. They didn’t have to defend at any time during the game.
“Vardy said they knew it was a difficult game, that wasn’t a difficult game. It doesn’t get any easier than that. They’ll argue they made it easy. For 15 minutes it was a game.
“The acid test for them is next week, that wasn’t a test for them today. They go to Liverpool next week, playing in that stadium the way it is right now, is very, very difficult; arguably the most difficult place to go and get a result.
“Ask me where they are next week after that game. I think they’re a very good team but the acid test will come next week.
