These players got mortgages to pay, their lifestyle is way too high their earnings can not take them home.

The person he stole from is also a player with mortgages. Mortgages do not consume your entire income by the way. Don't make assumptions about lifestyle.

However, whether he could afford it does remain a valid question. It is more closely linked to the fact that not all footballers earn the same as opposed to the footballer lifestyle generically being so unaffordable.
