A 3 week holiday to Nigeria can only solve so many things, but I somewhat agree with you that showing a child their roots can help them to make something of themselves
I dont think the issue is root or culture. I think it is more of Bad gangs and lack of attention and monitoring . lack of adequate parental intervention.... Drugs .... This dude do drugs !!

In Nigeria, some rich kids are also like this dude but the system will never imprison them while some poor kids have also gone astray and the system has punished and repunished them ...

I will always advise kids of Africa origin in Obodo Oyinbo to visit Africa once in a while in order to understand their privilege.... Nonetheless, Visiting is not enough unless they pass through the system!

Lol we are saying the same thing

Yes, thats what i dont understand... people condemn foreign-born children but children of rich nigerians can also be extremely crazy...they just manage to wriggle out of everything because of their background

While the law abroad will treat almost everyone the same except if theyre extremely wealthy...

what I was saying to that guy was that bringing them back once in a while may help some kids who feel lost or alienated by the culture of the country in which theyve found themselves, but its not a dealbreaker. We dont know if this boys mother has brought him back before and it had no effect on him

The boy looks like the tired and weary 18 year old that he is, how do you want him to look huh

He looks 18, he just hasnt slept

Plus black boys who eat enough proteinous food and/or exercise look mature for their age...our genes make us good for sports

The way our children look in this country is not how theyre supposed to look... na sufferhead do am...
Na, that aint it.

Such a prodigy. It's rare to see any of his mates achieved such at his age. He's waited all his life to reach a legal age, he could have done this a year ago or be caught as a juvenile but he waited for the right age.

And the first thing he chose to test-run his legal age with was a forbidden zone strictly meant for the elders. His courage is legendary! Such a great kid.

Kids no longer waste time nowadays before achieving what many adults never achieved. They reach 18 years, they take the batton and launch straight into breaking records.
Blame fatherlessness in the UK,our Nigerian women have accepted social welfare payments in exchange for marriage.
Feminism is ruining everything
It's going to happen in Nigeria on a larger scale

Though the culture abroad doesn't give parent the opportunity to be tougher on their kid like the Nigerian way , and it really affect upbringing .... Nonetheless, despite the thoroughness of some Nigerian parents , their wards even turned out more badass ....

In the long run, parenthood is not a small job ... Boys/Girls can easily be swayed by peers especially when they reach the decision making stage , we can only try as parent by enshrining in them the best ideology and hope they carry the legacy wherever they find themselves!

That will serve him right, he will just waste 15 active years of his life in prison, so unfortunate for him.

There are different ways to bring up a child...one is not necessarily superior to the other especially if you just use the same techniques not minding he temperament of your child or the type of environment you find yourself in. I personally dont agree with all aspects of so-called "old school" Nigerian parenting, especially when it's just used as an excuse to take frustrations out on a child

You are right on that...hopefully the guy will try again when he is released from prison
