This is good. But since government can reasonably and profitably manage a business because of a lot of issues, private investors and commercial rice farmers who mean business to once and for all address the rice scarcity in the country should be engaged. Government should just play the role of funding, giving advanced rice species, and helping these farmers to harvest and process harvested paddy into finished rice products.
Listen Nigeria is in 90 billion US dollar debt. It is just better to import because what is happening now the government will say they want to do rice project they will spend 5 billion US dollar on it and they will only have is 200 million u.s. dollar of rice so what is the use then they put the whole country in debt. Dangote and other rich Nigerians are a good example and just look at Elijah Steel plant nitel Nigerian Airways and another good examples. Most of this project which government is doing it is not profitable including the private sector they are just pushing the country into massive debt.

I am not a SMUGGLING at all we have to look at it from a business point and economical point. If I give you 5 billion US dollar to import rice I will bring the rice to Nigeria and make a profit from it you will get at least baby 6 billion US dollar which you collected the total money for their rice what this means is you will pay the 5 billion US dollar back and have 1 billion US dollar profit. Now let's take Nigerian government situation what they will do is they will borrow 5 billion US dollar to do rice farming and they will only harvest one billion US dollar of rice which means that 4 billion US dollar of debt is still on accounted for.

That is what's killing the nation today projects which are failed. All our government he does is blow empty air . Under babangida there was Operation feed the nation plant wheat what happened to wheat today . Under abacha plant Guinea corn what happened to the Guinea corn today. Under Obasanjo plant cassava cassava cassava where is the cassava today. Now under buhari plant rice rice rice we shall see where the rice will go. These are all projects which have put Nigeria into billions of US dollar debt because the government is trying to push illiterate to do the job which is not possible.

Wasn't it the same thing with fashion la he was buying Land in other States saying that people in Lagos can go and do farming in those States what happened. Only to find out most of the money was used to build houses outside the Country

Keep this rubbish to yourself. Nigeria is failing because we have too many people with your horrible defeatist mindset in this country. Hopeless personality. Import, import, how much money do we have to be importing, and for how long? Forever? So what is the use of having children? Nonsense'
