Traditionally, the CDS is the most senior. If not he can't summon any of the service chiefs as junior to any of them.
Buratai is the most senior in the army, but we now have two other Lt.Gens Adeosun and another who is now in charge of UN missions.

DSSC Course 23 in 2016, I no carry any signed form go and I still enter Jaji eventually with my signed forms tho.

Besides I just got an offer for 275k sef, to start by Monday, I'm already rethinking this Army stuff again b4 I even start sef.

It work fine on paper, but in Nigeria, the politician who is the Commander in Chief at any point in time can select any regular officer from any of the combat arm OR combat support arm.

Ehejira was from Corps of Engineers,
Dambazou was from Corps of Military Police,
General Aliyu Gusau was from Intelligence.
Ibrahim Babangida was from Armoured Corps.
Current Chief of Defence Staff General Olonisakin is from Army Corps of Signals

In so far as you are a Regular Commissioned Officer and you happened to be a Major General, you can be a potential candidate for the office of Chief of Army Staff.

Although, the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service for officers stated that only Pilot can be Chief of Air Staff, only Sailors (seaman branch) can be Chief of Naval Staff and Only combatants (INFANTRY and ARMOURED CORPS) can be Chief of Army Staff, army particularly has not followed that strictly.

SSC and DSSC officers sorry about this one. When it comes to control of combat force at the upper echelon of the service the Regular Commissioned guys own the job.
