gabbasin:Southerners and Westerners loose, because cheap rice is imported to the North, while stony rice is pumped to the south east and west, and its big business for the Northerns because all the gains goes to the North |

jayfolarin:You don't support the home industries by just closing borders, you will create another Avenue for smuggling especially in Nigeria where corruption is in the blood. At the end of the day, both the local and foreign goods will become expensive so what is the point? What this government is doing is to apply temporary cosmetic approach to solving a fundamental problem. How long do you think this border closure will last? What happens again when it is open? The reason why foreign goods are in demand is because they are cheaper and has more quality. Producing anything in Nigeria is too expensive and until made in Nigeria goods can compete with foreign goods price for price, quality for quality, foreign goods will remain attractive. One thing is sure, business all over the world are not patriotic and only cares about their profit. That you closed the border will not force anyone to invest his money into any venture. Look at the US for instance, Trump has been trying to force American companies in China to bring their factories back to America by putting tariffs on goods coming from China, has he succeeded? The answer is No. Why? Because these companies knows that manufacturing in America is far more expensive than China and that would hit their profit margin. The only way to solve manufacturing problem in Nigeria is to build up our infrastructure to support industrization. With our ridiculosly cheap labor and reducing the lending rates to a single digit, Nigeria will become very competitive that even companies in China will shift their production to Nigeria cos our goods will be cheaper than that of China. For now, we don't have the infrastructure to produce pin that would meet local demand not to talk of producing goods that would match its rivals in other countries. |

I will soon learn this yeye website again, apparently people haven't been cured of their tribal sentiment, everything this administration does is against them Saying only southern border was locked, even idiots who have never stepped out of their village in osusu masquerade Town are suddenly experts on border closure I have seen videos from the North where smugglers were chased by customs arrested and detained How these idiots managed to think southern ( by which they mean Eastern region's borders and business interest) is the target of this exercise really beats me But then I'm not surprised people who thought Buhari has been replaced by jubril, that Buhari is about to wed another wife and still believe Nnamdi kanu has been assassinated will believe any crap as long as it makes them feel like the victims of oppression |

Islie:very funny On the allegation that his officers were extorting money from smugglers, the NCS Commander in charge of Sector 4 Command of the National Border Drill Operation, Bashir Abubakar, said: “I will not say yes, it is true but at the same time I will not deny because we are all human beings and there is no Nigerian that changes name in terms of issues of integrity and character. When asked if there is possibility smuggling is still going on in Jibia, he said, “I can tell you that whatever you see happening in Seme, Idi-Iroko and other land borders around the country is what is happening in Jibia, Umfun, Cross Rivers, and Migatiri in Sokoto State.” |

eTECTIV:You don't need to shout before making your point here because you're not saying anything that people didn't know already. d so called border closure and customs is only taken seriously in d southern borders by d customs and other security agencies while up north it is business as usual.. Let's stop deceiving ourselves in dis country. You know this without leaving the corner of your room? Both South and North land borders, smugglers are still risking their lives everyday. Remember, the security agents manning our land borders are a mix of all tribes. Pure imagination Foreign rice in Katsina sells for less than 12k.What do you gain from this lie? |

I saw a video where.... say 100 motorcycles each carrying not less than 4 bags of rice through a path and it's in the north cos I could recognize the language in the background. ***Here*** https://mobile.twitter.com/jacksonpbn/status/1095130738595373058 |

| Re: Smuggling Booms At Nigeria, Niger Border, Despite Border Closure by maasoap(m): 2:02pm On Oct 22, 2019 |
eTECTIV:Now, it has jumped from 12k to 15.5k! We shall get there. How come only you have information about foreign being sold at either 12k or 15.5k? Only if your dumb brain realised how difficult it is to get rice across the border into the country at the moment with all those long and difficult routes they're taking, even according to this particular report, you would understand that such prices you're quoting here is purely imaginary. Even the local rice, you can't get it at that price. |

maasoap:I want to assume U are learned and can also see clearly even though d evidence so far proved otherwise.. I clearly stated d price of rice IN Katsina. I have enough rice supply to last me from now till d next year... Go and ask any rice merchant about golden standard. Na una type hungry go kill.. |

eTECTIV:I have a gift and I'm using it right now. I clearly stated d price of rice IN Katsina.Yeah, I saw it. Foreign rice wasn't produced in kastina state. Let's talk about landing cost of foreign rice in kastina state. I have enough rice supply to last me from now till d next year... Go and ask any rice merchant about golden standard.Even before the border closure, how much was foreign and local rice selling in Katsina state? How come the price is even lower than pre-border closure era? If you're saying that you stocked it before the effect of border closure started to be felt, I would have agreed with you, not even to the 12k price sef. I have a friend in kastina state, one minute call will further burst your lie here. |

Nawaoh, let's investigate before commenting, government partially closing Land borders doesn't mean you still can't smuggle in goods ,but when you do customs officers are waiting for you at the major high way Example oron in akwa ibom, because there are lots of mini jetties boats can berth without the knowledge of customs but they are waiting for the smugglers at okobo and nsit ubium |

You guys in the South keep deceiving yourselves, customs is only effective in the South, no custom seizes Alhaji goods over here. Same way you hardly see police checking points |
| Re: Smuggling Booms At Nigeria, Niger Border, Despite Border Closure by Nobody: 4:58pm On Oct 22, 2019 |
The smugglers, it was learnt, go through the laborious route of offloading the contrabands few meters away from the official border security post and use J-5 buses, Gulf 4 and 5 vehicles and motorcycles to ferry the items from their hideouts into Jibia for onward transportation to their warehouses in Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, Jigawa States and some other parts of the country.I always say it here that Buhari will never close the Northern border but some people were calling me names It's impossible to close the Northern border in the first place, A borders were terrorist move their armored vehicles around freely. Dangote was talking about Southern Borders but didn't mention the North. Christmas is around so Buhari wants to shift this illegal business to his kinsmen from the Sahel to make money, they will make money from Nigerian Christians, you will be buying rice smuggled from Niger-Republic and Chad thinking's from Northern Nigeria. |
