While the GW whatever can afford the service of a five star lawyer, can he afford that? Even if he can he shouldn’t waste it on a litigation that he knows very well many odds are against him. In court arguments are based on facts and points of law. Morally the pay is poor we all know but court don’t follow rules of morality but matter of fact and law. The more reason I believe arbitration is a better option for him like agreeing to share 50/50 all proceeds from his performance until the end of the contract while the coy still retains the right to market his music, videos and promotions for all they invested in him.

being of contractual age does not matters when a contract is inhumane, that said I or you shouldn't jump the gun because I don't know about you but I have not seen the copy of the contract, that said all is an investment and if there is something there that unnecessary tie him down or he is not happy about the contract should have an exit clause, anyway whatever it is if he feels he is justified he should go all the way with the litigation but if not he should settle.
My own honest opinion is that, it's very difficult to invest in human skills, asking for 500m naira is pretty crazy, but the record company also invested expecting a return on investment so the two should battle it out in court to Supreme Court level for interpretation.

Nigerian artistes should also learn to honour contract. Read and understand the content of the contract before you append your signature. We have a fair idea how some record labels outsmart and shortchanged these artistes due to their ignorance.

I know cash money keeps his masters but Universal are the ones cutting the checks to cash money and they are the first people to see his money as they are the parent label of cash money. whatever money he makes, universal will get the money first and give the remaining percentage to Cash money.I don't know much about Rihana but I know only few artists have access to their masters. That was the main reason why he fell out greatly with his father and partly Sony.They gave him just enough to keep him happy but he was making a lot of money.He didn't have control over his content and Sony with the backing of his family were not going to let him have control.Taking over Sony was a chess move to not only own his music but to escape from the fangs of his father.That was why they went to that length to stop him.

Banky W did Wizkid well compared to what labels do to their artists.Post-Superstar Wizkid wouldve been a great way to cage him as he had a lot of clout.But dude still has his name,can perform his old hits and just transitioned seamlessly unto the next chapter.Don Jazzy on the other hand is a mess.He has ears for good artists no doubt but artists dont grow under him.Moneywise he may treat them fairly OK but music wise he heavily under utilises his artists

Problem of Nigerian music is lack of structures.Viacom,Owners of MTV for example control like 70% of American media especially TV shows and awards.This are people you dont want to mess with.One phone call and no radio is playing your song.There are no such people here. So even if you are Jay-Z and you want to fight powers that be,they will bring you down in an instance

Secondly is Nigeria is a singles market than Album market.Nobody cares about albums rather what hit songs you produce.So labels don't really care much about promotions in that regard. They only care about how many people play that hit song and how much show organisers can gibe them for that.At the end of the day there's no way to checkmate what an artist puts out.
