panpan:These Telcos are greedy lots, they charge you for each session you use USSD, if you don’t have airtime on your line, you can’t make use of USSD, now they want to take a step further to charge more, they are not providing USSD free. |

Giovannialonso:They should sit down with the banks and reach an agreement on how to share what they are already collecting and not attempt to impose additional charges of their own. |

First we were forced into a cashless society, it was applauded for it's effectiveness but now we are gradually being sucked dry with many charges and taxes... As a matter of fact it's beginning to seem like the cashless policy only favours the banks and not the customers at large... Billions are being reported as quarterly profits after tax by these financial institutions at the perils of the customer... |

I think CBN needs to investigate this, from this,it means the banks has been charging their customers for the services all along and claiming it is free. This is illegal deduction which must stop and customers must get their money back. Bunch of criminals |

Banks have been charging for this service since naa. In fact, for every ussd transfer I'm charged 20 naira. With what the Telcos are saying, they're only asking for 4 naira and the banks are complaining. This is bad. |

Don't even include FG in this case at all cus, they will dabaru everything, why? they will look for revenue into their pocket. To be sincere, i think telecoms is at fault, why? On the day one of creating ussd code, The telecom wouldn't creates USSD CODE for The financial institution for free it will attract some payment, so why now telecom complains? seunmsg: |

Well said, but do Nigerian govt thinking what you are thinking? Their gestures shows division of tribalism also so that's why most Nigerians are doing the same. Look at Uganda, they are transforming their country for good who don't have 2 percent of resources of what Nigeria has and moving fine but your country, oh my god Johnkay225: |

seunmsg:Sunk cost or not, it is a service! Customers either pay for the service or they withdraw it! Simple. Telco provide the platform and you don't want to pay them? |

panpan:Honestly I don't understand how they had an MOU on the service if a party does not stand to benefit. I remember vividly Airtel certainly charges. The only network that didn't charge was MTN and now they want a share too. By the way all this electronic charges shall systematically reduced if not outrightly removed if we want to encourage the cashless policy. |

mfm04622:Are they giving me free data? They payment for data should cover the cost. They don’t charge us for checking our credit balance so they can’t charge us for using our data. They should negotiate with the banks to give them a percentage of what they charge for online banking services. |
| Re: Banks, Telcos Feud Over USSD Charges Deepens by mfm04622: 1:22pm On Oct 25, 2019 |
seunmsg:Don't mix it up please. USSD service don't use data! That is why it can be used on any phone, even on dumb phones. It is the banks that do not deserve any money. What do they brink to the service except the customer? All the required facilities are provided by the Telcos. |

EazyMoh:Why is it that Nigerians want services for free? Haba! It cost money to put required infrastructure in place and maintain them. They should do all that for free? Are they philanthropists? When you set up your own business, don't charge for services you render |

Uwaomaokey:Telcos charge 4 naira per transaction while banks charge 52.50 naira. Who is greedy between the two |
| Re: Banks, Telcos Feud Over USSD Charges Deepens by EazyMoh(m): 2:20pm On Oct 25, 2019 |
mfm04622:Calm down Oga! Government gives incentives for policies to work. Even Dangote gets up to 10years tax exemption on new factories he builds. If we want a cashless economy we shall encourage it. It's that simple. Charge more on ATM withdrawals, charge less on e-transactions. The money used in printing the currency could be used to subsidize the e-transactions charges. There are many ways to make it work. And yes! People render free services to achieve a desired goal, even private companies not to talk of government. |

Badonasty:my bro only few would reason the way you've done. I do understand you but the truth is the youth are now worse for it. check well, you'll realize the youth are more criminally inclined than any other even a larger percentage of the youth believe and enjoy this nuisance going on. many of the youth don't pray for it to end with the way they sing praise of the thieves. it's not just #siddonlook but we youth being happy seeing things go wrong we come online condemning politicians but end up returning to praise them like (dino has just bought a new *range and curlina* |

Buckubuck:Do you keep your money with the Telcos or Bank, if you use the platform(USSD) provided by your Telcos in agreement with the bank, do you report to the the Telcos or Bank when a transaction goes wrong, you purposely overlooked one of the points I raised, have you ever tried using USSD on an empty Telco account - 0.20kb, it won’t work because Telcos charge you from your airtime per session, did you get the airtime for free from your Telcos? |

Uwaomaokey:Indomie kid. Does ur bank charge you 50 naira if you withdraw over the counter? Why does ur back deduct SMS charges of about 200 naira every month? Are they the ones providing the SMS charges? Who is providing the USSD service is it the bank or telcos? Is the bank not benefiting from the USSD service in that it makes their work easier and faster? So why do they insist on collecting payments for it? |

Uwaomaokey:Which question you wan answer? Where's the disrespect in indomie kid? You played urself when you failed to realise that those USSD charges are for electronic banking not for keeping ur money with a bank. Learn to critically analyse next time before jumping to defend. So long. ![]() |
