I Need Advices On Chicken-rabbit Farming. by klashe(op): 6:19pm On Oct 31, 2019
Hey guys! I'm 24, ND holder. I plan to further my education by 2021. So, I want to starting a business. The two livestocks I have loved right from my childhood days are chickens and rabbit. I'll be starting with a capital of 80k. Should I face chicken farming alone or rabbit, or should combine the two? Thanks!

I appreciate your comments.

Since you've got just 80k... pls focus on rabits provided you have a ready market for it.

Rabbitery is less risky compared to poultry and you have alternative feed source (leaves, yam peel, etc...) to feed them with when you run short on cash for their feed.

Thanks dawnmike. As regards to your comment. Apart from the risk of shortage of chicken feed/food, one advantage I see is market. IMO, I think the market for chickens is pretty okay (esp during festive periods) compared to rabbits.

Please, you can say more on this if you know about the market for rabbits.

Pls whatever you want to choose, don't combine chicken and rabbit breeding. The rabbits will definitely get infected and wiped out one day. They share some similar desease. Find WhatsApp groups and gain more insight and connections especially in your state of residence. Good luck in your endeavour.

There is sure market for rabbits...the demand is unmet... chicken can be risky...rabbitry has less risk... I have contact of bulk Rabbit buyers...if you're interested, let me know.

Rabbit business is fast rising, not seasonal and it's sustainable.

Since you are just starting except you have a lot of capital chicken especially broiler and layer farming needs a lot of capital when it comes to feeding them because if you do any short cut it's going to affect your overall results. but with rabbits, you can gather some hay after harvest from farms around or the hay is not very expensive compared to chicken feed. you can supplement their feed with green vegetation during the raining season because rabbits eat a wide variety of green leaves apart from tomatoes which are poisonous to them. when you have gathered enough capital then you can venture into poultry farming
