PoliticalWitch:
You want better power....you pay for it.

In the UK, a person living in a single room and parlour can pay N14000 monthly. In Nigeria, that same person on estimated billing can pay N6000 per month. (N4000 or less on a meter).

And we expect light 24/7

On a good day, we generate about 11000mw...on a good day...because most of the time, regardless of what Fashola says, we are at 4000 MW or less...and that 4000MW is meant to supply all of Nigeria...200Million of us. And the truth is, we need about 80000MW to at least have light 24/7. Lagos town needs 10000MW for 24/7

And all that costs money.

Yet, we Nigerians won't pay. We chase away DISCO workers , we refuse to pay for power because 'they are cheating us.' And the honest truth is, we are the ones cheating ourselves.

Power has been private since 2014....yet we expect government to provide us power 24/7 on a budget of 20billion dollars...when we need something like 100billion dollars to even fix transmission to modern standards.

The truth is, we are not going to get to that 80000MW...unless we realize that POWER COSTS MONEY.

And another thing....you want your universites to be like UK and Canada university on school fees of less than 300 dollars a month?? Stop making me laugh.

So does the sentence "when the school light was taken" sound normal to you?

Even if it's solar you shouldn't be forced to go and sit out in the middle of the night...see them sitting there like a bunch of peasants...are they reading their books or reading the sand
Guy chillax. Even universities in the South dey read like that if light no dey. Don't make it sound like we're no longer in Nigeria.

What is the budget in this country compared to the UK, US and Canada?

The problem with you Nigerians is that you want what the UK, US and Canada has , with a budget that is far smaller than what the UK, US and Canada has.

Yes, corruption has wrecked our country, but the sad thing is, the treasury the corrupt are stealing from is also very very very small.

The truth is, we must raise our power generation to somewhere around 60000MW from the current 4000MW before we can see power for 24//7. And that money is going to come from our pockets since we did not protest when the DISCOS were set up in 2014. And the cost would be $100billion dollars (our foreign reserves aren't even up to $50bn)

In the UK, US and Canada, people don't bypass their meters, don't use cutlass to chase utility officials, and don't refuse to pay their bills. Here in Nigeria we do all of that, and much more. And then we turn around and expect power for 24/7? When we are refusing to pay for service (And please don't tell me meters would solve the issue...because people have bypassed meters, and will continue to do so.).

You are reasoning like the husband who gives his wife N200 to prepare stew of N20000. How is the wife going to do that without stealing money or taking a loan?

Note that I don't like saying this. To be honest, I wish that Nigerians could have power for less than N2000 a month, estimated billing. I am aware Nigeria is poor. But the truth is, I cannot go and try to buy a Ferrari with just N45000. Like the joke who beleived that government official who said Nigerians can buy food for N30...i would be laughed at.

Reading this ur long line, it's obvious you put the blame for Nigeria's problems at the doorstep of the masses. You may be an elite or someone looking to be acceptable into that class.
Let me lay it down for you. Hitler is regarded as evil, but as evil as he was, he built a people's car for Germans called Volkswagen. The Chinese were motivated, encouraged and challenged to build their countries by chairman Mao. Singapore got Lee kwan yew. The same Rwanda which suffered under terrible leaders in the past is blossoming under kagame. The power and responsibility to stimulate development lies with the political class not the masses.
You even blame the treasury for being too small to withstand looting. I don't know when you were born but it's common knowledge that in the 70s up to the early 90s, Nigeria was regarded as a rich nation.
You need to change ur mindset. Taxing people to death is not always the solution to development issues. A brilliant mind with an average pocket will beat a shallow mind with an heavy pocket everyday. Change ur orientation. You're coming across as a part of the problem not the solution

No I'm not. I'm just merely stating facts.

Plus, Hitler ran up huge debts , and Mao's polices led to the deaths of millions of his countrymen.

We have a budget of $20billion. UK, US and many other European countries spend far more on that for just things like education.

Anyway, you want us to keep on taking loans. You don't want to do the hard work that it takes to develop.

Good morning.

It's not normal. It's just not something that's uncommon.
