...But you're wrong where you refer to deadline for submission of names

1. This is because deputy governors are not nominated via primaries but by the [b]primary [/b]selected/elected Governorship candidates, please note INEC only recognises primaries hence APC's disqualification in Zamfara.

2. If a Governorship candidate then has issues with his nominated deputy then he has no choice but to forfeit but here is a court ruling disqualifying a candidate thus INEC has no choice but to substitute the name with another name to be forwarded by Lyon. (It's only fair and just)

3. Where there'll actually be a problem is if They both contested and the deputy governor was eventually disqualified because that renders the ballot ineffective.

You are right but i thought both share one ticket,joint inseparable ticket whereby if one is affected,both are affected? You may also be right because party primaries are not meant to just produce winners but also to produce substitutes for substitution before or after elections.but if a court is disqualifying someone,it is usually for flouting the law and may render the ticket invalid since its a penalty

I agree.that means that if lokpobiri case on thirsty succeeds,he will be replaced with lyon since the primaries were legal.

INEC has the right to examine certificate submitted and disqualify candidates too.The court can do so before election ..It is still a pre election matter.Since the election has not been held APC still has the right to replace its candidate and submit the name to INEC.

. thank you sir.....if the winner of the primary is disqualified the second person with majority votes will be the flagbearer.not the deputy governor.... All these are done before the election...... In the case of Sokoto the Supreme court ruled that APC did not conduct a legal primary and that means it was not ready for the election. That is why PDP took over the state....This is not the case of Bayelsa where legal primary was conducted. So replacement of the disqualified deputy governor by APC is sacrosanct
