It's that time of the year again, when Nigerian celebrities & influencers troop into Dubai for the One Africa Music Festival.

Of course other private Nigerians also take advantage of the opportunity to go party with their favourites in yachts, clubs and on stage in Dubai.

Theyve been documenting their trips on social media.

Yen yen yen. It's not a celebration of Africans. It's an african festival, just like any other festival you see abroad for immigrants/minorities. The only reason this is confusing u guys is because these actors & BBnaija pple all appear to be taking trips out of naija. They are not paying for anything, it's all free & is a marketing strategy to get more diasporan Africans (the actual paying customer) for their show.

And yes they do Carribean and Indian festivals around Europe and the USA too.

WHITE pple do not do it in Africa because they do not have a large community living in African countries. Besides most african radio caters to their needs. If ur an african dt lives abroad, u hardly hear african music.

Is there an American community in Nigeria dt I do not know of? And yes American promoters have shows in Dubai ALL THE TIME. And all peoples of all tribes always show up to American music shows because their music dominates all radio airwaves on earth. They don't need to come under a banner of 'one USA festival' for it to be promoted. Just write beyonce and the arena will be filled.

Surprisingly, the only middlee eastern festivals hosted in Africa are Christmas and Sallah .

We have paid about 100 billion dollars in pilgrimage tourism fares to Saudi Arabia and Israel from 1960 till today .


This in all earnesty shouldn't be a surprise. We are known all over the world as inferior people who have built the empires of big nations with our sweat during the trans atlantic slave trade epoch and in contemporary times through luxurious and exotic spending on frivolities produced by foreign conglomerates.

Eko Atlantic , though not in the league of Dubai, is capable of handling this fiesta. Imagine how much bolt and Uber drivers would have made this weekend.

No matter how much people try to criticize Dangote about his monopolistic capitalism, I hold that man in high esteem. He hasn't only contributed to the GDP of Nigeria but has even attracted the middle eastern , European and American billionaires to Nigeria. He has tried not to keep so many properties an average Nigerian of his status should keep abroad and doesn't pay exorbitant taxes to foreign government.

Dangote hosted Bill Gates and 15 US dollar billionaires in Nigeria during his Daughter's wedding. Nigerian hall was rented , event planner and logistic controller were all domestic. Nigerian hotels and transport industry at least felt hard currency during the wedding. But these Celebrities host all their weddings and birthday parties in Dubai.

Ok, it's the name dts ur problem. I'm sure he just wanted a name dt all Africans in diaspora can relate to. As someone earlier said, maybe he should change it to Pepsi African Festival. But since there's african there I'm sure ull have a problem wt dt too. What to do? Stop organizing shows for Africans abroad?

It's not even about the name bro. It's about the fact that we fail at every chance we get to market our people, values and culture. My point is that events like that should be held in Nigeria or other African Countries.

One Africa Music Fest is organized by popular promoter Paul Okoye of Upfront Entertainment @Pauloo2104. He gets interswitch and pepsi to sponsor his One Africa festivals all over the world. He holds a London, new York and Dubai show yearly. Three shows every year at big venues. The reason the Dubai show is always prominent is because it's easy to buy a visa to enter Dubai, so he gives many naija influencers/bigbrother stars/actors free tickets and free hotel to fly in for the show & they advertise it all over social media wt their pictures.

It is obviously true dt they get some Nigerians visiting dubai for the event. His marketing strategy worked, i know pple dt fixed their dubai vacation to the same period last year just to flex wt celebrities. He gets freebies from the visitdubai tourist organization for bringing in influential visitors for free advert. But the main aim of his marketing is to get a huge turnout of dubais african immigrants and even arabs to the show. Hes a businessman, the Dubai government mean business for their tourism industry and are ready to give incentives. Win win situation. The igbo man is trying to make money from african diasporans & at the same time raise Africa's music profile in the world. There are so many African festivals on the African continent already. These musicians are paid and they attend those ones too. It's their job. Is it the 'oneafrica' title dts disturbing you guys. Maybe it should be called starboyfest or Burnaboy live.

Mr economist, that forget humanity. The simple thing people are asking is why can't we grow our own industry till when we are going to be self independent. This is pure sellouts of our heritage!
