What is the difference between 2-3yrs and expelling? If you give me 3yrs suspension, nigga go japa look for another school.
No School owned by the Government will admit him. Only those quack private schools that are desperate for students will take him in. And can he afford to pay their fees? I guess no.

If you attended a University, you won't say that expulsion is too much for them. FYI, FUTA rule book prescribes expulsion for offences of this particular nature.

Meanwhile, expulsion is an administrative punishment that doesn't preclude prosecution.
It happened off campus thats y..they will only be suspended that all from school.
Re: FUTA Suspends Obalola And Others Involved In Bullying Mate by bigtt76(f): 8:52am On Nov 18, 2019
I believe the victim needs to be punished too if found culpable of inciting the accused persons' anger through defamation of their character. It should be nobody's business how the other party chooses to live their life and should not go about revealing nasty things about them without their consent.

I guess the investigation will reveal much more.

Oh really? I really have no idea how suspension and expelling works.

It seems comprehension is hard for Nigerians . The Suspension is pending the outcome of the investigation. The school will definitely expel the major actors and suspend the lesser ones . Una blood too dey hot for this country and when e remain to fight government , Una go hide behind keyboard

I think the school punishment is fair enough. They might have extra year which will affect their GP but handing them over to our usless NPF is not a good idea. I'm speaking from experience
AllenSpencer:
Punishment is too light.

They should be handed over to the state police and made to face the law.

Few years imprisonment won't be a bad idea.
Re: FUTA Suspends Obalola And Others Involved In Bullying Mate by hybridblood07(m): 9:34am On Nov 18, 2019
2-3years is too much nah.

Extra is a fair punishment and it will affect their GP
partnerbizn5:
Expelled?

That's too much abeg.

Maybe suspended for 2- 3 years. And maybe prosecution by the police for assault..

They should be expelled not suspended. Their offence is a sign that they are/potential cultists.
Indefinite suspension is because investigation is still running at the background. Next time the panel sits, it's expulsion. So no need.

In my uni in those dsys, i never saw any fight in school, but if people felt like venting, they take themselves outside goldie gate and beat themselves to pulp and then come back into the school. So if you dont want to fight, just remain inside the school. That fear of expulsion then kept everyone in check. Dunno about now though
grin.. True, A guy in my hostel slapped anoda guy back in d day while in sch, we were fetching water from the tap, he felt he was stronger and wanted to chance the other, and when the other refused he slapped him. when the Porter discovered what had happened, the guy knelt down and started begging and crying... The whole boys came out of their rooms, con see laugh. grin grin A slap could get u expelled.

Big shame on your parents!
you do know there are parents who bring up their wards well, but they'll go out there to behave like animals. It's just sad their parents will get dragged in this too

Maybe you know something we don't, or one of the bullies isn't your really close friends. Whatever the case, the video evidence is their undoing. Evidence is their and people must react.

I've modified, what I meant was that they have brought shame to their parents, not that their parents are to blame.

The state can institute criminal proceedings while the victim follows up with a civil suit...
>
Yeah thats elementary knowledge, but the state won't go far if the complainant refuses to press charges. The prosecution will falter and the matter thrown out for lack of diligent prosecution.

Similarly, elementary knowledge...
But why would she not press criminal charges if she intends to bring a civil suit for damages?

The astute thing would be to aid the state’s prosecution process and let the state do all the investigatory and evidentiary heavy lifting...
When/if the state successfully prosecuted the suspects, her civil case would be a mere formality given as the burden is LOWER in civil court.

With all due respect, but this epitomizes that Agbero Culture that has befallen much of NIGERIAN public space...
Defamation of character (alleged) is a CIVIL wrong and if someone defames your character, you seek civil remedy not assault them.

And btw, I hope that you know that TRUTH is a COMPLETE DEFENSE to defamation allegations...
So just because a person dies not like others telling the TRUTH about his/her shenanigans does not make it defamatory.

My point and yours are academic. We both understand and are saying the same thing, i do not think there is an argument here, we are simply dealing with 'IF'...so in the final analysis, its all up to her.

So because defamation is a civil wrong, it's not worth investigating and punished by the school authority or what?

We might as well tell the university authority not to suspend the students but allow them to sort themselves out by going to the police and court as fighting and assault are both civil wrongs naaa angry

Of course, assault and battery is NOT a civil wrong...
It is a CRIMINAL act, which is subject to the Penal Code - regardless of what the school does (or does not do).

If someone annoys or "incites" (to use your term) you...
You do not retaliate by committing a CRIMINAL act - and that there are Nigerians who do not grasp that simple concept is troubling!
