Good day great minds, I plan starting the HND to Bsc top-up program next year, but someone told me it is not accredited by NUC and might just be a waste of money and time. Truly I tried searching online if there is any proof NUC approved of the program but I could not lay my hands on any site claiming that.
So please guys is this program really accredited, so one can just go for PGD jeje.

@shalom4eva. You don't need to confirm it online .It is just like direct entry to university but must be at least 2 years and the course must be related in a NUC approved School and accredited course.

Thanks kayus2009, I know all this, but he was like, if it's not approved by NUC then I should forget it, that I should go check Thier site if there is anything of such.

You are undergoing another degree if you opt in. NUC are aware but they are silent

It is not advice able as this memorandum has been forwarded to every universities in Nigeria , but it is better if you apply abu special admission.. It is not top up

is COREN now NUC? Why the treat to universities?

I don't think NUC need to approve it. The school doing it are offering u a course accredited by NUC and other lawful professional body certified by law to the do that.

So far u run up to 2yrs and above in the school, No hiss.

Am considering starting one with Federal University Oye-ekiti too.

What concerns COREN with top-up programs?
If the program dey pain COREN, then COREN should address the issue of discrimination na.
COREN is only after registration fees and I think they don't have to worry coz the technologists will still need to register as engineers after the program.

Useless COREN.

Conversion program or conversion course. Which one did you later go for?

it's not the way you think. COREN accredits Engineering courses in the University, while NBTE accredits for polytechnic.

I'm a polytechnic graduate too and TOP UP doesn't really make sense to me.

That's the problem with we Nigerians..We claim we want quality education and best professional practices , yet we reject move that would improve us greatly...COREN is the regulatory body of Engineering; it determines the standard of education an Engineer receives from time to time...Of what impact will the top-up bring to the graduates and nation as a whole? it's still the same mediocrity..

It's just like saying "What concerns MDCN with medical education and practice in Nigeria because we have NUC? If MDCN says No accreditation for this school, NUC's verdict is baseless and will have zero impact... That's quality and that's why Medical education is unique in Nigeria..We don't tolerate quackery and unnecessary shortcuts...If you have a PharmD degree, with all the knowledge you must have acquired, you can only start from 200L in Medical school via Direct Entry.

You guys should yearn for quality and not mediocrity in your Engineering profession....
