This may be hilarious to some folks but i think we're past the uncivil era of barbaric or tortorous punishments for such seemingly petty crimes.
Simply call the Police, have him locked up and prosecute him.
Both the Nigerian Constitution and Police Act, has punishments that are heavy enough to bring sense back to their heads.

In a sane clime, those guys are supposed to be locked up for lots of crimes. Human right violation is one among many others. No matter what the guy did, he didn't deserve this. This is not Banana Republic damn it. This is a country with law. Without law, we are all animals. This is jungle justice. This guy has rights. He deserve to be heard, represented by a lawyer in the court of law.

If found guilty, his punishment shouldn't even be jail. His punishment might be as simple as community service. But in this country, I trust they will sentence him to life imprisonment or death by hanging. This country tire me. A man wey steal billions will be asked to pay 900,000 and he will be granted bail and discharged eventually for lack of merit after spending 10 years on the case while the guy that steal common food will be sentenced to death.
