there is a big difference between opening a club, and making money from such establishment. if any donkey with money could open a club and make money, then all rich people in Nigeria would be club owners. Didnt JJ Okocha opened a club recently?!

you can open 10 nightclubs and still lose money!
Well, i dnt do clubbing. Buh i actually tot it was a lucrative business, considering d way Naija lyks clubbing.

This amount is about what some other players make in a week or two without hype and in decent places. Anyways, it is our nature to make mountain out of anthills.

The highest paid player in the world does not get up to half of that in a week. So keep quiet!

Damnnnnn

Open something else niggarrr

They keep on opening hotels, night clubs, beer Parlours and play house

Funny enough people will always patronise these places
Anyday, anytime twice on Sunday

If you see huge crowds in this places you begin to ask yourself is there really poverty in the land

The sad thing about the club thing is a couple of them run into serious debts due customers not paying. Look at the case of "Escape" in lagos

nah many are losing big money because it aint easy to open a club and "expect" everyone to come spend money in your club, while there are so many other options available in Lagos.

after you spend money to attract yeyebrity to your club, pay artist to perform and invite sexy people to enter for free, the majority lose money instead of making money.

comparing the highest paid football players with one that is half way into retirement AND whose last season in football was in China (of all places) is far fetched

The first step for a good(quality)footballer or any other athlete here to achieve his dream is to first move out of this country. It will be damn hard for any talented footballer here to make it to the big leagues without having any godfather(football own better, a basketball player will have to find his way to either USA or Europe).

no mind the guy, footballers plenty die for my area only few of them get to travel out not to talk of make it. this country can really make a mess of pure talent and grind dreams to dust.

here, receive some sense:
https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/obafemi-martins-set-to-launch-his-hotel-and-night-club-in-lagos/ccd7gjm

i swear you no get sense

but how does opening a club goes with what he said

"He says being part of the nightclubbing scene takes the pressure off him and without this, he cannot enjoy his football.”

in simple english, he meant that he cant play in a country like saudi arabia because they have no night clubs for him to chill after playing a game, clubbing after playing football, take pressure of him.

go and learn how to understand comprehension passages. you need it badly.

you're right even Anthony Joshua had to move out of this country before he became great.i believe any athlete who stay here to practice is definitely not concerned about becoming a global superstar. Nigeria have a way of stopping people's talent. In America,it's easy for a kid who has basketball talent to make it to the NBA.all he has to do is just go to a school that's active in the NCAA league(a sports league for athletes still in college)and join the school's basketball team,he should work very hard to perform his craft and when it's draft-day(a yearly event) a professional basketball team will come and draft him to play for them.even if there's no team that draft him,he can still make it as an undrafted rookie(just like Boston Celtics and Senegalese boy tako falls.tako falls Was The tall black guy who took a picture with Davido sometimes ago). But here in Nigeria,we have NUGA games but stars in that nuga don't go on to become superstars in their choosen field.we need to change in this country.

Presently, the best basketball player in the NBA is actually a Nigerian, giannis antetokoumpo(adetokunbo)but he grew up in Greece. I swear if this guy grows up in Nigeria, perhaps he might be into npower or yahoo now.

Even Austin 'Jay Jay' had to go visit a club in Germany before Nigeria gave him a chance.

I don't get the reason why all this footballers will want to waste money in setting up night clubs, I mean can't they think outside the box. the sport sector has great potentials with talents springing up by the droves and dying without ever shining, our entertainment sector is fast becoming a force to reckon with around the world, our tech industry is also pulling it's weight in Africa and all this sector will employ millions of graduates and non graduates, so they didn't find any business potential in all this industries except for the already saturated hotels and nightclub industry that is already saturated, and we blame the govt for our woes in Nigeria.

the likes of Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Rockefeller never had it as easy as this but it never stopped them from building establishments that made America what it is today, I mean Carnegie and Vanderbilt literally built the universities in America just to show who is richest.

I've never met Martins before but I've always followed him from his days in Inter Milan and I hear he has a kind heart but seriously he needs business advisers that will make him go from being just a football star to an elder states man, all our footballers do.

Mumu see mané,see drogba,Samuel Eto and the rest of them...see what they've achieved raising the poor in their country.. Nigeria celebrities be it football or music all they can do is to lavish and intimidate the youths nothing good is ever coming from them.. someone will spend a whole state budget in a year to buy ordinary eye shade...it is well may God help us

sadly that's our reality in Nigeria, and the worse part of it is that the people at the helms of affair ain't feeling any pang to change it. I mean you can imaging a whole NFF chairman going to watch a PL match when your own league is in disarray, the Nigerian basket ball league is another one that brings tears to my eyes, sadly it's the talented youth that will bear the brunt of this extreme ineptitude.

Why do the rich keep getting richer? They have learnt to build relationships, gather information, and act on it. Has local messi invested in social media, take advantage of football competition or trials... Above all, village people fit get hand

bro forget, this country lacks structure period, how many ties did Messi build before he went to Barca, the Boateng brothers were spotted on the street in Germany, a pure talent need not do any thing other than practice to be better at what they do, it is the job of a talent manager to do the rest but sadly in Nigeria it's the other way round.

PS. Nigeria economy sef na village people.

here is a clue: whether he refused to play in Saudia Arabia for clubbing or because he had his period IS IRRELEVANT to what i initially wrote, which IS: "when the reality of opening a nightclub will hit him hard, he will even accept 250K deal to play for Iraqi football club...." duh!!!!!!!

I knew a young kid in my area then... His football skills was incredible.. he can dribble anyone I the tightest spaces with skills I've never seen from any star player.. Now he's hustling at Alaba.. such a waste of talent. Almost wept when I saw him

Brought back memories of high school days. I can't forget Kofi and Niyi. These two could dribble the entire opposition 2-times over without losing the ball. Kofi, of Togolese ancestry, was the most sublime.

messi was in newells football academy. through the club he built ties.

an athlete has to be in an academy and participate in competitions to get noticed.

so how many sporting academies do we have in Nigeria? scratch that! how many academy boys have gone on to fulfill their dream? lastly Newell's old boys is a club in Argentina not just an academy, how many Nigerian club can boast of a football academy? the situation in this country is just pathetic.
