Okay. I am not very tech inclined, almost thought I muddled up the definition of an "app"- hence my question.

Pages is a word processing app. I like to scribble a lot of nonsense, so it comes in handy. I can also convert to whatever format (PDF,DOC...) I deem fit before sending it out.

Notes is a whole lot more elementary, but it serves. They are both for writing.

If I recall one note is cross platform. Ios windows, macos android. Login and sync notes across all your apps and devices. No limit.

I used to use Evernote for this, but they screwed the free version
