rexwalters:I partly agree with you but something is wrong with this system we running. So Ebonyi has salt but can't do anything about it until FG says so? Same with many states with natural resources. The structure we dey use na chancing my broda. It makes no sense Ebonyi and it's people couldn't decide to gather the resources for this and tap into it independently. We need to review our economic system. This ostrich we are playing will not help us in the long run. |

Omenka is just a bigoted, frustrated, lowlife dingbat. He comes out to comment once it concerns a particular people, whether positively or negatively. You should hide your head in shame man, oh, you have no shame |

Esseite:That is why Nigeria is poor. They don't understand the concept of diversification. We can earn $50 billion from at least four sectors in a year. Everybody would be prosperous. Even looters will loot well without worry. |

cenaboy:Brother, I'm from Enugu, but I will say this your comment isn't reasonable. You get allocation from oil producing states revenue, because Ebonyi isn't that productive yet you don't want your resources to be tapped. The more revenue you give the higher your monthly allocation. Ask Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers. |

Nnaeb:You fail to understand that some states are blessed than others. If the emboldened happens, most states will fold up like companies and be forced to merge to neighbouring states. Resource control is the way to go but most Nigerian States are not ripe for it. |

tiwiex:You're really thinking, that's how it should be, I learned they also have lead and zinc been mined illegally in the same Ebonyi, I wonder why the FG can't allow the states to mine them |

englishmart:Your Enugu isn't productive too without the oil from Niger Delta..infact no state in Nigeria is productive without oil allocation monthly Is actually Abia and Imo that produce oil in the east |

Why not allow the state manage it and pay tax to the FG? Why must the FG manage everything? |

jahsharon:Goodluck, did not just announced the commencement of the second Niger Bridge, they actually started work on the second Niger Bridge until APC came into power and stop the project only to come back and start it again. Stop rewriting history just to score a cheap political point... |

ibietela2:I hope you know the United States rely heavily on tax and charges? If you are going to use the United States as your defence, perhaps you have an understanding of the model we use as a country. You can't just wake up and start taxing and charging a state just because you need revenue in Nigeria. As per resources, most states in Nigeria wouldn't even survive as they have next to nothing to fall on. |

Sanchez01:Which tax are you talking about? From resources you have jumped to tax. Texas manages its oil The state Las Vegas is in makes money from tourism And many others. All states in Nigeria can survive if given the opportunity, there is tourism, service jobs, ICT, and many more. |

ibietela2:HOW MANY STATES IN THE UNITED STATES BOASTS OF RESOURCES AS TEXAS? In place of resources, tax and charges work, which is what the states in the United States do. Would it kill you to read a bit before coming back to defend this? Pray, tell the 'many more' ways states in the United States generate revenue besides oil in the United States. How many states are tourist attractions to begin with? How would you advise a state like Enugu to generate money when over 50% of its residents are civil servants? How do you make a state like Ebonyi economically viable when it is nothing but a rural area with good road networks? What means would you adopt, given the chance, to make a state such as Abia state self sufficient? I was thinking you'd proffer a more strategic solution but I thought wrong... Meanwhile, it wouldn't hurt to research how states in the United States generate revenues to become self sufficient. While you're at it, note that states with active resources in Nigeria are the only ones that can survive resource control. The states I mentioned above, despite receiving free oil money monthly haven't been able to get it right, let alone when they are charged to look inward and generate their own revenues. |

No be El Rufai say Gold wey dey Kaduna plenty full everywhere, yet FG no know say gold give money pass oil. Until they started killing each other in zamfara, that's when we knew that they have been mining gold there. Why is the FG not investing in all these gold deposits. Rather na salt they wan carry money put. Abeg what's the price of salt in international market. ![]() |
