Is this the latest on the duration of stay?
Broadenyourhori:

As long as you leave before 05/03/2020.

You can even travel in February. They will only grant you entry for whatever time period is left on your visa. Also, be prepared to give more explanation at the POE.

Whatever time he enters US before the expiration of his visa, they will only stamp is passport and write the date he must leave the US - Latest 05/03/2020. Normally, someone will be granted 6 months stay each time they enter the US but if you have less than 6 months, you will be granted till the last day on your visa.

The risk is that, they may want to see your return ticket and get more information about you or your host just in case you decide to MIA.

The rule changed?

This isn't correct.
A visa validity....when you can present yourself at the border of the country
Length of stay....is solely at the discretion of the CBP officer
I have presented at less than a month to the expiration of my Visa and still got stamped in for 6months..

Yes sir, you are wrong. Clinical rotations are covered under the B1/B2 visa category ,it is stated in the foreign affairs manual,i posted the clause in a previous post. However, the H and J visas are for residents( already qualified doctors) who are paid for the job. I will be taking an elective at the school as I am still a bona fide student, hence the residency

Hello Ferdinand,
I feel your plight. Understand that there would be several opinions on what you did wrong etc.
Personally, I don’t think you violated your visa and you were well within the limits of your visa. I think it’s unfortunate that getting a visa from Nigeria currently is tough.
I’m just wondering whether or not your previous electives were paid electives or unpaid. Going forward, I think you a get paid elective which isn’t hard to get before applying.
I would also suggest applying from Caribbean as your chances might be better there.
Lastly, I wish you success in your future application and completion of your studies. It’s a great career and you’ll enjoy it.

I have decided to head to the caribbean in a couple of weeks and my school is going to work on my permit so i can reapply there. Thank you very much sir and I cant wait to enjoy this great career.

Hello House
I intend on applying for a tourist visa with my dad although I’m currently serving, I would be able to get a letter from my company. My dad and I have previously travelled to the uk and USA and at the time we travelled to the USA I was a minor. Since I am older now I would like to know if we would need to have separate applications alongside the interview and what are my chances

This is a double edged question.
Is your visa valid for travel?-Yes till March 5
Is your passport valid for travel?- No, to depart your airport of origin your passport needs to be at least 6 months into the future.

Please nobody should come here and argue about this. That is the first thing your check in agent will verify. I have a lot of friends whose vacation plans have been ruined for this reason.

he an get a new passport, and travel with both passports..the visa is the main thingy, passport expiry is just 35k or so..and u get a new PP

Please Note: Travel for the purpose of attending weddings and graduation ceremonies, assisting pregnant relatives, participating in an annual business/academic/professional conference, or enjoying last-minute tourism does not qualify for emergency appointments. For such travel, please schedule regular visa appointment well in advance.

Your parents were denied just few days ago not even a month ago and you want to book an emergency.
You are playing with fire. shocked
At the point of selecting emergency appointment option the embassy has a boldly written warning regarding the type of applicants that should select emergency option.
Emergency is not for every visa applicant and it can defiantly not be used for graduation ceremony. undecided

mum is only reapplying now and not both of them. I was seeking an emergency because it’s for graduation, nothing else.

I don’t know that it’s has gotten to the point that even parents that paid huge amount to give thier kids a better education don’t deserve the happy moment of being with their child on his or her graduation ceremony! All is well !

Why are you being so emotional about the situation? sad
Can’t you see that emergency appointment is a limited slot mostly for real life and death situation? cry
Don’t you know that by selecting emergency appointment you might have taken a slot meant for an applicant that needs urgent medical attention with maybe just few hours to live? shocked

Honestly, there is not much anyone here on NL can say or do to help.

Your mum has paid a new visa fee, let her go ahead with securing an appointment for an interview. But looking at the T&Cs for emergency appointments, the embassy may not oblige her. BUT IF THEY DO, she should be firm about the reason for the visit and remind them what investment made on the degree.

yeah its too close, should you be succesful at the interview, earliest date you can get your passport is 2 or 3 days..and that is if you opted for self pick up at their office
DATEs bOKU, i guess your interview is lagos?...y last wk..earliest date was jan 31, though you could log in randomly all day long, you may e lucky and see an earlier date pop up....auja usually has earlier dates..than lagos.

so to change your interview date, simply log into your profile, same way you ooked..and u will see other availale dates to select.. note you are entitled to only 1 date change.

who has used hotels.com reccently?
i made a booking yesterday , had issues with my usual card, as they kept refusing it. had to try a usd acct card..it sailed tru, but i was debited.
i read the fine print, and there is nothing like being debited for that booking, apart from their usual cancellation is free. and my present location , i cant make calls, to ask hotels.com what the problem is

Is the booking for visa processing or you have you visa handy already?

visa processsing..
why do u ask?

though i have seen the option to cancel, and then your money will be refunded back to your acct.
seems this is a new development, likely cause of the too frequent cancellations
