Should I Start A Business Or Go Back To School? by Sheggz22(op): 10:14am On Dec 05, 2019
Good morning

Please am in a state of dillema right now
I really need advice.

Currently am 24years. I was withdrawn from pharmacy school due to the fact that I could not pass the required pass mark for each session, It was quite depressing and sad but I shook it off and went on with life

I took up some jobs which earn me some good sum of money, but it's a toxic one but I was able to save the amount I needed to start a business

Am thinking of starting a popcorn business on a campus next year and start my life from there (because I've really drafted a plan for my life).

But my parents just called me now to tell me to go back to school. Truth is, I really lost the passion of going back to school. I saw hell while I was in school

Please nairalanders.. should I heed to my parents suggestion or proceed with my instinct and go ahead with my business?

People please help me

Go and discuss your reasons with your parents.... Do not let them live their life through you.
Bless you

Start a Business.

Instead of Popcorn, try something else like Perfumes, Foodstuffs or Phone Accessories.

You can always get an IT Skill and Upgrade yourself.
Whichever one you decide, put in 100% Concentration because that's what will determine the outcome.

Shalom

At 24 you can and should go back to school. The good thing is that you've learned your lesson from the first experience (I'm hoping you have) and will do well this time.

A degree gives you an advantage. Don't let anyone deceive you. There are opportunities you can never have access to unless you are a graduate.

Think long term, not just immediate gratification. Going to do popcorn can't take you far in the long run. While you can do that while studying (get someone to manage it while you oversee things) you don't have all the time to study later. This is Nigeria.

You can change course to something else, but make sure you go to school. You will start seeing opportunities that require your degree much later.

I'm also a student in one of the top federal universities here in Nigeria.

i had almost the thought as yours, to start a business rather for me to go to school but i decided to finish my first degree and venture into a paid business.

so, my advice for you is to either study any course related to health or any of these two courses sociology / economics.

i think from there, you would get ideas on how to effectively run your business.
