You Can't Dictate for Government - Coalition Tells Enugu CNPP Chairman

Our attention has been drawn to the scurrilous remark made against the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon., Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi by the state chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) over the fate of local government administration in the state.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by the National Coordinator of Enugu Youth Coalition, Dr. Edwin Obune, the group said the state CNPP Chairman, Mr. Adonis Igwe lacked the power to dictate for the state government on how best to deliver democracy dividends to the people at the grassroot as the role of CNPP is only advisory and not directive.

It however noted that it will support the state government in any direction it takes on how best to deliver democracy dividends to the people noting that the current operational module of local government administration in the state needed to be refocused for efficient and effective service delivery to Ndi-Enugu.

The group condemned the CNPP Chairman over what it described as attempt to pressure the government in to maintaining a dysfunctional local government system that disconnects the vast majority of the people from enjoying democracy dividends at the grassroots.

We state unequivocally that, the Chairman of CNPP is not representing Ndi-Enugu but vested interest which has been financing his anti-people activities in the state.

The accusations made against the governor by the chairman in his article dressed as press statement is unfounded, ill-willed and a figment of his imagination.

We repeat, Enugu State is not a state for vested interests but for the good people of the state who mostly reside in the rural areas and the state government is everly committed to fashioning out best ways to taking democracy dividends to them.

Therefore, we call on Ndi-Enugu to ignore the CNPP Chairman and remain unyielding in their supports for the state government in whatever direction it takes in the coming days, months and years.

The government will never lead them astray, but will replicate it's success in the security sector in all affairs of the state.

They should never allow the vested interests which the CNPP Chairman is representing to cause them to derail in their supports and prayers for the state.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is unshakeably committed to putting smiles on their faces and will always reward them with good governance for the unprecedented electoral trust invested on him in the last governorship election in the state.

Truly, Enugu State is in the Hands of God.

Signed:

Dr. Edwin Obune,
National Coordinator,
Enugu Youth Coalition

I think the group is a socio-political group supporting the government of the day in Enugu.

I have been following their activities in the news media.

From my understanding of their activities, they operate like the Buhari Media Organisation BMO or Buhari Support Organisation BSO based here in Abuja which is defending the Federal Government Action and policies.

Even if I'm not from that state, I truly like their activities because they are vibrant and defending their state.

My personal opinion though.

Keep your personal opinion personal if you dont have a balanced information.
For your information, I hereby quote the thread wherein the CNPP expressed their fears....you may see it here under-

There is this doctrine usually in democratic government the 'subsidiarity'. It’s says that every problem and issue should be solved in the possible lowest level of the
government. If you try to Solve local problems on national or state level you have a big chance you will mistreat the problem, and it would make much harder to solve a simple problem. If you try to manually to lead everything from the centre you will create a monster government which will be slow, corrupt and ineffective.Every decision would need to go through too many levels on the bureaucracy system.

As a result, In 1974, the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo embarked on ‘Local Government Reform. The reform revolutionised local government administration in the country and accorded it an official recognition as the third tier of government. The reform sought to address the role, the content of the system of local government, which hitherto, merely served as an appendage and extension of the existing local government.

Ideally, in a well constituted local government administration, the state governments should have no business fixing those pothole infested roads in your neighbourhoods, providing pipe-borne water that is now herculean task in Enugu or providing desks for primary schools. That should be the primary responsibility of the local councils but this is the result when local government administration is placed under one person's armpit to the benefit of political cronies as means of saying thank you or people who will do a hatchet job for them.

No doubt, effective local government is a crucial component of any strategy to improve security, stability and counter radicalization, but what do we have here in Nigeria, the other two tiers of government have successfully weakened and emasculated the local government through the years especially here in Enugu State.

It is regrettable that many state governments have not been allowing their State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs) to conduct elections as at when due but rather settle for‘caretaker committees'. And where elections have been conducted, the party in control of a state apparatus has been known to have cleared the polls.

It has also come to our notice that the phrase ‘local government autonomy’ has become a buzz phrase for politicians looking for how to win the next election, but nothing has fundamentally been done to make the local government truly autonomous especially pulling them away from the grips of state governors who now see the third tiers of government as an extension of another arm of their government.

It is on this note, that Coalition of Nigeria Political Parties, Enugu state [CNPP] is calling for attitudinal change from the state governors and we are saying that we condemn in totality any move to install caretaker committees in Enugu State local governments and therefore calling on the Enugu state governor to expediate action and do the needful by conducting not just local government election, but it must be credible, fair & transparent.

Therefore, we are asking the governor to quickly reverse the idea of local government Caretaker Committee or face mass protest in the state. We will resist any attempt to impose caretaker committee on the people of Enugu because it is anti people, inhuman
and barbaric for anyone to do so. As a result, we keep it here while closely monitoring the direction and body language of this government.

Signed
State Chairman

What or how else can we describe this faceless fellow called Edwin Obune who call himself youth leader and at same time working against the interest of the youth of Enugu State youth, who is deceiving who? Can you unmask yourself, because I just got to found out that there is no one called Edwin Obune, give us your social media links but you are just one of those rebaged political jobers using psydo names to please their pay master. Well done youth leaders

I challenge you to name any development project in Enugu State, how many jobs have the governor created for your Enugu youth. How do you feel within you to open your mouth and begin to make unguarded statement against a body working tirelessly for the interest of your so called youth.

By the way if I may ask you mr. Youth leader, what is the relationship between your youth coalition and local government election. To whose interest are you fighting for, the youth or your pay master.

Afterall, when in the history of Nigeria or political has youth turn into a political party, who sent you and what is the office of the so called Youth Coalition. Can you name the address of your office. for what I know, youth organization is known as pressure group but when a self acclaimed youth leader begin to dance the music of his pay master, one will get worried if actually we are at same tarain and
What is the objectives and aims of your youth body, can you publish here for people to see, am sure you will be shamed for going against the aims and objectives of your organization.

The fake mantra, "Enugu state in the Hands of God, can you tell us whose hands is Enugu state is in the Hands of in the previous administration. Now that Enugu state is in the Hands of God, can you now compare the previous administration and this administration and tell us whose hands is Enugu state in the hand of. Let's agree that Enugu state is in the hand of angels in the previous administration and now that the state is in the hand of God, can you do the comaparative analyses and give us your result between the past and present.?

I expect you to behave your self you say you an activist and when next you make such unguarded such statement , am sure CNPP will ummask your identity.

Thanks and Remain Blessed

Chief Adonis Igwe JP.
Chairman CNPP Enugu state.
