So his opinion carries considerable weight on the eve of the clash between Mourinho’s new team and the club he guided to three Premier League titles in two spells.

“The issue with Pochettino was a very simple one. Could he get the team over the line and win silverware?

The referee missed it but VAR didn't. Had the keeper made contact with the ball, it wouldn't be a penalty GGMU.

Gazzaniga obviously posed high targeting to draw a technical foul against Alonso, probably to injure him or something.

It was very careless of him.

Initially, the ref even awarded a foul against Alonso until the VAR changed the refs decision against Spurs.

Deserved penalty, deserved goals from Chelsea.
