Young orange seller forced to hawk his goods at night because he was allegedly warned by his aunt not return home until all the oranges are sold off.

As narrated by Facebook user: “What an unfair world. This night as I was entering a popular eatery to feed the worms in my stomach, I beheld this boy of ten years dozing beside the oranges he sells.

After taking this pic, I nudged him and when he came awake, I began to ask questions. The summary of what he said is this: he's from Abakaliki and lives with an aunt in Awka. He's in primary school. He sells oranges which his aunt has decreed that he must finish selling or else he dare not return home.

Thus, even at night when he should be home resting, he's still on the road trying and hoping to sell all he has on the tray. Tonight, he was tired and shivering in the harmattan cold. He therefore decided to take a nap, as pictured, before continuing to hawk.

He told me his aunt maltreats him too. I thought of how to help him and decided to buy all the oranges in order to set him free. He had to follow me to where I parked to keep my oranges. On the way, it occurred to me that this was how bad people could lure him to their place and kill him.”

Nigerians, when can we start taking the problem from the root and stop celebrating mediocrity?

Man's inhumanity to man.
What is even wrong with Ebonyi ppl?
90%of underaged helps are from there and they will give their children to Anambra ppl that doesn't even like them at all. What is David Umahi doing to alleviate poverty and sensitize them on the dangers of giving out their children.
Look at that child in the cold harmattan.

You may come up with the story of any problem you've been able to tackle from the root up and that way we'd see you as someone who makes a difference and not by condemning the little the guy was able to do.

Akwaibom is worse, makes it worse still when you realize that the state gets the biggest chunk of federal allocation plus 13% derivation as an oil producing state.
The fact remains that our leaders are so cruel and indifferent to the plights of the people they rule. So bad.

Campaign of calumny

Didn't you read this

"he's from Abakaliki and lives with an aunt in Awka. He's in primary school."

Education is good and avoid spreading lies.

Just like the erroneous and deceitful slogan of the change administration depicts "change begins with you", in your little or big capacity how many people have you been able to pull out of the penury of the streets? There'll always be the poor around you and it is expected of you to help ameliorate their plights your little way, the guy whom you vilified for easing the boy's suffering temporary did so just in tendon with his capacity and he brought it up here probably for others to locate the boy and further advance the help. Don't just find it easy to criticize others whereas you're doing nothing differently. Merry Christmas in advance.
