Is it really fair that oil is drilled in a state, revenue is given to the Federal government to be distributed to other states according to population? Why can’t every state who makes laws for themselves (sometimes unfriendly to revenue generation), hustle for revenue own their own? Some states in Nigeria have tourism potentials, some have agricultural potentials, some have investment friendly environment to potentially generate revenue, while some have natural resources, but all are abandoned in order to share in the revenue generated from oil drilled from a few states Isn’t it time Nigerians start discussing these seemingly ‘unfair’ economic structures and policies? |

We should go back to regionalism jeje All the igbos to one region (igbos outside SE) All the Yorubas to one region ( Yoruba outside SW) All the hausa Fulani to one region all northern minorities one region all southern minorities one region However with regionalism comes possible disunity we must check ourselves remember how ojuku tried to destabilize Nigeria because he had an entire region under his control |

Osaze007:Rather than having regional governments like you suggested which could give too much power to regional governments, how about having states act as their own entities within the country, which means we have 36 independent entities. That way it’s difficult to concentrate power on any region. My suggestion then is, should each state not control its own resources and FG focuses of federal tax income? |

socialmediaman:That will be disastrous cause scale brings about savings Also a lot of Nigerian states are not viable So why tell them to be on their own |

Osaze007:Some US states are poor, it’s okay for some states In Nigeria to be poor if they don’t have means to generate enough revenue. What happens is that most of their citizens will leave to other commercial cities, but also, cost of living would be low which is attractive to people working remotely, or manufacturing companies who need cheaper manufacturing costs. Also, politicians are living beyond their means, that’s why their states are not viable. They pay themselves outrageous salaries and allowances and loot the funds meant for development, they also refuse to tax the rich like themselves |

socialmediaman:Are you aware Nigeria is not up to one state in USA and you can’t compare the wealth and status of USA with Nigeria For me regionalism is the best |

socialmediaman:When EU, US and China bans cars from using petroleum products and use only electric cars. Then nobody will buy your fuel again, you will start hawking your fuel in Lagos holdups, then you will go and find better things to do apart from screaming our "oyel" money. I will see where you will get money to buy food stuffs produced by Hausa/Fulanis. For now, we will spend that your "oyel" money together and when there is no "oyel" money, we will leave you and your oil spill polluted environment. |

Osaze007:I understand that Nigeria’s budget is less than the budget of Texas. But my point is, distributing oil wealth among every state is counterproductive. We’re literally financing laziness because most states have abandoned their revenue generation models for oil money. Tourism is dead in cities like Plateau, while agriculture is barely surviving in cities like Benue. |

jahsharon:Doesn’t look like that will happen in the next 10 to 15 years based on how widely gasoline cars are still being used in those countries |

| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by socialmediaman(op): 6:33pm On Dec 26, 2019 |
jahsharon:They’re already hawking gasoline in the international market because there’s excess of it. They literally sell it on credit to pay later in installments, It still doesn’t stop them. |
| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by socialmediaman(op): 6:34pm On Dec 26, 2019 |
Osaze007:Regionalizing still concentrates too much power at the center of the region. You mentioned this earlier |

jahsharon:The residents were once fishermen and artisans, right? They have water, which is a channel for transportation of imported and exported products between various cities |

The only way for Nigeria to prosper is through political and fiscal federalism! |

| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by Osaze007: 7:27pm On Dec 26, 2019 |

socialmediaman:They have polluted both their water and land by breaking oil pipes and siphoning oil. Now, there is no fish again in the polluted water and crops cannot grow in the contaminated soil. So, what is the future of Niger Delta when oyel is not selling again? |

jahsharon:I've been reading your dumb analysis here. what is your business with the Niger deltans future you should be concerned with the future of your STATE. how would your family survive. I support the Niger deltans because I'm tired of federal government siphoning huge tax from my state in the name of commercial city. ordinary bursary of two years has not been paid. Why do you have to mention PDP? people like you are the curse in Africa today, instead of thinking way forward you'll blame others for your failure. |

socialmediaman:This is a ranting of a fool. I an afraid you have done nothing about the derivation formula and probably fall into the group whose forbearers joined the northern and Yari.ba elites to foster a war on Biafra. |

| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by socialmediaman(op): 2:36pm On Dec 27, 2019 |
jahsharon:Is this topic really about PDP vs APC? Don’t forget APC would not be elected if Nigerians wanted to keep the status quo. Let’s keep the discussion about policy and not party |

jahsharon:The oil will never become useless this century. When the car stop using oil, factories, the power plant will continue to use gas from the delta. Hausa Fulani is rapidly turning into a desert if care is not taking you may not have a homeland to support life. Niger is a case study. |
| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by Osaze007: 2:38pm On Dec 27, 2019 |

| Re: Should Some States Continue To Feed Every State In Nigeria? by myobjective: 2:43pm On Dec 27, 2019 |
Osaze007:Regionalism will be the best arrangement, the country should be restructured based on ethnic group and minority group that share a similar religion are culture should be lumped together to form a different semi-autonomous nation |
