Osaze007:But some local government with this oil resource can also agitate to have an independent local government due to greed, where we will stop. The only reason, I want Nigeria restructure is to unlocked the potential of some lazy Nigeria states |

Osaze007:That’s really not the motivation for this. The main motivation is seeing how some states are very investment unfriendly and do very little to raise money internally or attract investments, simply because they receive oil money and don’t have to work hard for their money |

socialmediaman:I think regionalism will be the best bet. Making states control their resources like you opined will be devastating because most states will collapse suddenly and the aftermath of the problem will not be easy to contain. With regions, it will still be a lot easier coz there is no region without a viable state if you’ll divide them into Hausa/Fulani, Yorubas, Igbos, Middle belt, and South South people. This imply that they can still share resources within a region among themselves until each region can be able to stand on their own. |

LegendHer0:Good point. I agree with you |

socialmediaman:Yes. The reason I also said that is because within each state of a particular region, there are different strength and weaknesses of each states and collectively resources can be pooled together. For example, I am Yoruba: Ondo- We have some crude oil here and land for cocoa Oyo - We have vast land which will be utilized for farming and building industries Lagos- We have the wealth concentrated here with the seaports for export Osun - We have gold here and we also have land for farming Ogun - We have the industrial estates. There is tiny oil here also with its international border to aid trade Ekiti - We have the wealth of professors and also land for farming Some of Kwara & Kogi - They can also contribute their quota If we can pull all this together for the Yorubas, the advantage will be more as a region than being individual states. This same analogy van be applied for other tribes and region also. |

LegendHer0:Good points there. Also, geographically it will benefit regions better because border states will serve as export import zones for the regions. These are core issues and reforms we should start pushing for. Corruption still is a big problem in Nigeria and that’s another red hot topic of discussion |

myobjective:All fingers are not equal Regionalism is the best let each region decide how they want to sort their power |

We copied our presidential system from US, less copy it on general, not partially. Same fiscal system is practice in US and Canada and its working so let's reapply, we shouldn't invent the wheel! socialmediaman: |
