Nobody is saying Pep is not a good coach or a revolutionary but his achievements wouldn't have been possible without the huge amount judiciously spent. The quality of players at his disposal aided him I'm not talking transfer fees alone but their technical qualities and how they fit into his system/playing philosophy.

I'm wondering is there not a defender in the academy worthy of giving a trial since his best defender Laporte is out injured and the likes of Otamendi and Stones are not good enough when it comes to the actual business of defending. I think Pep doesn't promote youth as we are meant to believe because his records bar his Barça days are not worth mentioning in this regard.

I do coach a team at a very amateurish level and from experience I've come to realise you're as good as the players you're coaching no matter how brilliant your ideas are without the right players or buy in you're toast. So, Pep struggle is a prove to this assertion his way out is to buy more or promote from within.
