Some old school lectures have refused to allowed for progress. Agricultural engineering is a broad course. Some schools now go by the agricultural and environmental engineering which is more appropriate. The course is a good program on it own. But the way it being handled in some schools, you will end up learning everything and learning nothing. If you can get a school that will allows you specialize after two year, the better.
Thanks sir
I noticed some schools offer agricultural and environmental engineering (eg KWASU and Unilorin) instead of agricultural engineering.

Yes! If you interested in the course, go to school that will offer you choice. Like UNN, you can chose your bias from third year. If you basis is environmental, you focus on work like water conservation, land clearing, etc

You made me.laugh, sir. Theatre Arts isn't a branch of performing arts. Infact, Theatre Arts is more encompassing. Simply put, Theatre is a synthesis of many Arts (be it performing or not). Theatre Arts 8s not limited to performance. You may study Theatre and have no need to appear before the audience while your arts speaks directly to the audience.

By your ruling, Play writing, media, children theatre, management, stage management and lots more are outside the scope of Theatre Arts.

I understand your point as regards courses borrowed outside the department. My reference is not to that. I was talking of the internal courses taken within the department that have affirms the similarity and closeness of the course with other courses

SMH...

How can you say theatre arts is more encompassing for Christ's sake.

This is common sense.

Theatre is just a performing art.

That is why universities with better understanding of what I am saying have a department of performing arts rather than of theatre art.

And universities who also have better understanding of what I am saying treat it as a branch of performing arts which it really is.

In the University of Lagos, it is a department of two performing arts: Theatre and Music. So, it is the Department of Theatre Art and Music. In University of Ilorin, it is the Department of Performing Arts.

Finally, it is happening.

We want more courses to be defined to enable specialization. This will help us produce quality graduates that are ready for the future.

So UI that calls her own Theatre Arts doesn't understand what the course is all about. You keep saying "it's common sense" and it's hard for you to know which is which and which is not.

I will quit arguing with you here since it's obvious you don't know the difference and correlation between the two.

Our universities should focus more on STEM courses. We need research to grow... these art courses will do us no good. Why should one be studying broadcasting and advertising in the university? Waste of resources.
That some country focus on STEM doesn't mean we should. No course is useless they are as important as STEM hence don't let the media deceive you

They will still graduate and after you gave them a job and one assignment they would tell you,
"I don't know how to do it" and when you press on to know how a graduate you just hired couldn't create a memo, he/she would tell you,

"they only teach us theory, they did not teach us practical" grin

NUC unbundles Mass Communication Degree into Seven degree awarding programmes while making Mass Communication to become a Faculty.

The seven new Programmes/Departments, to be domiciled in a Faculty of Mass Communication are:

1. Journalism & Media Studies

2. Public Relations

3. Advertising

4. Broadcasting

5. Film & Multi-Media Studies

6. Development Communication Studies

7. Information & Media Studies

This is a great news...better professionals will emerge from 2025!

This is only limiting their chances. Mass communication graduates who assumedly possess these skills are still in job market not to talk of breaking it further.

Physical Education, Health Education, or Physical Health Education?

And mind you, the best university in Africa, University of Cape Town calls it Department of Theatre and Performance.

The best university in the world, Harvard University calls it Department of Theatre, Dance & Media.

But the spirit of rigidity is the problem of many Nigerian universities. And that problem is affecting you too.

And for the record, theatre is just a branch of performing arts.

Theatre or theater[a] is a collaborative form of
performing art that uses live performers...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatre

As you can see from the bold, theatre is a form of performing art.

There are many performing arts, and theatre just happens to be one of these performing arts.
