Why Do People Complain Of German Cars Being Pricier Than Japanese Cars? by lebete3000(op): 9:46pm On Jan 11, 2020

I've always wondered why German and Japanese Toks & Naija used cars are usually in the same price range, according to their years of manufacture; yet people complain that German rides are costlier than the Japs.

Does it have to do with the eventual maintenance (overhead) cost of the German rides being higher than Jap cars or what?

Take for example:

Tokunbo Mercedes Benz C-Class vs EOD vs Toyota Camry vs Toyota Corolla vs BMW 3-Series 2003-2005 models are all around the same average price range of #1.5million, ditto for their Naija used, which are in the average price range of 900k.

A similar comparison can be made for the 2006-2007/8 (in some cases) of the above car marquee, with their Tokunbo going for #2.5million on average, while their Naija used go for #1.5million.

So can someone explain to me what REALLY differentiate these rides from each other, that make people scream when they hear you plan on buying a German machine?

The most painful is that car called Toyota corolla (2003-2007) model. Going for 1.9m/2.+m. huh

Young man, M/Benz and Toyota or Honda of the same year are not the same price. I repeat the Benz are always costlier. No come dey debate wetyn dey obvious!

Go and price a Camry/Corolla 2005 model and do same for the Benz equivalent, then come and tell us your observation.

German cars have better breaking system, more rugged etc

Is almost the same price, there is no much difference. You can get tokunbo of those quoted cars between 1.5m to 2.0m. They are of the same price range. The major problem is the Nigeria mechanic, they are good in fixing Japanese cars compared to German cars, that's what makes the German depreciate faster in Nigeria compare to the Japanese cars. And almost all the mechanical parts in Toyota and Honda is readily available in the Nigeria market

When check prices for older cars they would likely come to the same price but check more recent models , for example the 2015 mercedes Benz and 2015 Toyota , are they the same price
