Its time Nigerian governors know there right. Security is the sole responsibility of the governors as far as Nigeria is concern. Nigerian police alone can't secure the life and properties of this nation. 4 Likes |

The Chairman of the South-West Governors' Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has responded to the comments attributed to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, declaring ‘Operation Amotekun’ as an illegal outfit. The Northern political elites always want us to believe that they know the law or the Nigerian Constitution better than us. When any matter arises they quickly open the HOLY CONSTITUTION and they interpret it to suit their whims and caprices. Even if Operation Amotekun is not backed by law. What stop the federal government from legalizing it and identifying with the hopes and aspiration of the people. At least the south west is reducing the workload of the federal security agencies and they are going to foot the bill from their own state treasury. Why not give the south west a pat on the back and then assist the south west to realise their aspiration. NEVER AGAIN MUST NIGERIA HAVE A LEADER LIKE THE PRESIDENT MAJOR GEN. MUHAMMADU BUHARI ( RTD ) WHOSE CALIPHATE IDEOLOGY IS BLINDING HIS EYES FROM THINKING PROGRESSIVELY. Every streets in Nigeria now has a local vigilante with official guns to protect the community. I am wondering why everything in the south is always viewed from AN ANTI-NORTH point of view of which they must throw away the baby with the bath water. 15 Likes 1 Share |

For political reasons, the FG won't try that. If only the FG had done its job against rogue Fulani herdsmen, there wont be Amotekun. mu2sa2: 8 Likes 1 Share |

mu2sa2:The courts would not act very quickly on issues of two state actors. The case would take a while like those Election tribunals. The DSS and police can not arrest them because they are already operating before now, they would simply continue to operate as local vigilantes or forest guards of their respective states before the court pronouncements. 1 Like |

owobokiri: One of the problems I have with some of you is that your memory is very short. Herdsmen murderous rampage did not start with Buhari. During GEJ's administration these murderers were rampaging all across the country. Killing innocent men, women and children in every single region especially the Benue-Plateau axis. And Jonathan (also) did not do anything about it. Now, the elections are over but some of you are still crying more than the bereaved. You memory is short so let me remind you. After Yar Adua's death, the Northern oligarch decided that GEJ (as vice) will not be allowed to take over the presidency. Let me ask you, which region stood PUBLICLY for Jonathan? Not the SE. Not even the SS - his own people. But yes the SW. The same Yoruba people that many of you like to falsely accused whenever things don't go your way. Yorubas fought the Northern oligarchy for GEJ. Now, GEJ became president and decided that the only way to celebrate his presidency was to systematically marginalize the very same region that stuck its neck out for him. As if that was not enough, he went on a public crusade crooning about how the Igbos (who did nothing to defend him against Northern aggression) were the 'back-bone' of his administration. The Yorubas sent people to GEJ to tell him to extend a hand to the SW. To stop the marginalization in terms of appointments etc. GEJ turned deaf ears. Yorubas remained calm since at the end of the day this is politics. One day he will come to the SW to ask for votes. So we waited. Then the Boko-haram issue started going out of control. The Northern oligarchs stuck their knives out again. The elections rolled in and the ungrateful GEJ had the effontery to come to the SW for votes. GEJ promised heaven and earth but we did not believe him. Because as they say "...if someone shows you who they are believe them the first time..." The rest is history. Say what you like about Buhari (he has his faults including his inability to address the serious insecurity issues), he is doing some work in the SW. Lagos-Ibadan expressway. SW rail project. We supported GEJ wholeheartedly and he poked his fingers in our eyes. We supported Buhari and he is repaying our support. We are not fools. Nigeria is very very far from been a perfect union. Any administration that gives us even 50% of what we want we will support. GEJ not only gave us nothing but he was publicly disparaging us. And some of you idiots think we should have supported him the second time. Use your brain or stop posting rubbish on a public forum. 20 Likes 4 Shares |

Iamgrey5:Amotekun is not structured to operate the way vigilantes and forest guards operate. And they're not operating under the control of the police. Worse still there's no law establishing the outfit - btw, does this not amount to operating outside the law? 1 Like |

mu2sa2: @ emboldened Please pray tell How exactly are they structured? You obviously don't know what you are talking about bruv They are under the command of the police and they can only make citizen's arrest and hand the criminals over to the police They are not to work in isolation of the Nigerian police. They were created because as it is the case the in northeast, the police don't often have local knowledge of criminals like the local vigilantes. 5 Likes 1 Share |

The South west government are quite educated and they understand their limitations under the constitution, coupled with the fact that their Current chairman also once chaired the Nigerian bar association. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
