Anything to stop kidnapping along our highway is welcomed. Especially in the southern part of the country. Our weak link now is Kogi state. No one knows where they belong, unlike Benue that is gradually pitching it's tent with the southerners.

By the time we succeed in creating this monster.

We will start calling God and praying.

These guys should just be trained on HUMINT and made to police and other security agencies with timely Intel.

Once they start doing vigilante service, there you have it, extra-judicial killings loading.

Bakassi and OPC boys comes to mind.
Bakassi did a nice job

Now be honest with your soul... Who in Nigeria is notorious for extra-judicial killings since before and after the existing of OPC and all other crime-fighting groups?

Who would you rather suggest to tackle the menace of kidnappers and sneaky murderers who continue to kill farmers, rape their women, springing out of the bushes to waylaid travelers to be robbed and kidnapped, comitting all manners of crimes across and within various regions of the south? Is it the current crop of corrupt cops who chase after every guys who for all they care are yawu-boys you want, to go after them? or the ones who just, in the name of raiding have you beaten if you dare resist to enter their bus for a thing as ludicrous as staying up late relaxing in front of your house, force people who are slammed with the crime of wandering, and all other ridiculous charges Nigerians have been living wit, all just to have you extorted at their police bailing station?

Amøtekun are set up for this, they are people who really want to work while our fiendly poorlice are there to keep on hustling for themselves and their superior as they continue to play hide-and-seek with the likes of Evans and Tom West expecting trasparency international and other similar watchful agency to applaud them with an applauds of high ratings

You are even advocating for them to have prosecuting powers?
Yes their lawyers will handle it.

Afterall, under the present laws, a private lawyer can handle prosecutions after getting a fiat from the Attorney general.

This will ensure speedy dispensation of justice and reduce police interference.

Like you know the FG controls the police.

In fact the law is that a police man should obey the state Commissioner of police over the governor of the state

See s 214 and 215 constitution.

There was regional police in the First Republic. Though it ended in chaos but it's time to give it another trial.

I hope you recollect that thousands of people die in road accidents everyday, yet you are I have not stopped using the roads.

Yes of course, without the power to arrest criminals it means they are powerless.

You collect loan to do farming and some idiot herders direct their cattles to destroy it. Is that not criminal?

They ambush you and demands for huge amount of money that your family couldn't afford. Are they not acriminals?

God created you with two hands so that you can work and eat whatever you want but laziness wouldn't and you choose to steal. Are you not criminal?

Knowingly or unknowingly you kill your fellow human being. Are you not a criminal?

You are a threat to your community because you belong to bad gang (cult group) and you don't want peace to reign in your community. Are you not a criminal?

You're living a audio life on Nairaland forum like everybody is hailing and praising you for nothing. Are you not a criminal?
the farmer could commit suicide because there would be no means of paying back the loan. Farmland encroachment is tantamount to murder.

Re: Amotekun Proposed Law: Wale Fapohunda Says Personnel Will Have Powers To Arrest by fasterwell(m): 7:53am On Jan 27, 2020
Why can't they be independent instead of romancing with the federal police who we all know can only obey orders from Abuja?

Imagine arresting a Fulani criminal only to hand him to Abuja boys who receives orders from another Fulani.

Why can't Amotekun have the powers to arrest and prosecute like the sharia police in the North?

Una don fall my hand by turning Amotekun to mere boys scot.

Well said expect the BBQGRILLS guy part which only offence that I know of is supporting buhari. The guy has a right to chose his leader, and rightfully so, abeg cut the guy some slack.

Meanwhile, am an ardent supporter of amotekun, but then my concern is our political class. I wish this outfit won't be used to score political gain and victimize perceive enemies. Most of our laudable ideas has been turn to eventually ruins by leaders who hijack and use them for personal gain. Security is a very sensitive issue, and must be a business of all, but I still have this feeling that some elements within and outside the government will take advantage of the situation and oppress the others. Nothing good has not been comprise as it were now in this country, and I have a feeling this won't be an exception. But if only if, the gods of iron and thunder can be used as a swearing platform to all members then I think we can get the best out of this idea, but if not its just a matter of time before we hear of controversies around the outfit.

The north are complaining about the security outfit, and I can't stop laughing.

Imagine if the Southwest starts fronting Ogun/Oro court, and southeast fronts Amadioha court that will be arresting people that are drinking burantashi.

Sometimes, it's good not to think you are almighty cos what goes around comes around.
This stuff really cracked me up....funny but true.
