An FCT High Court in Maitama has convicted Maryam Sanda for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.

The judge has however stood down the matter for five minutes following the drama that ensued after the conviction was passed.

She fled the dock immediately the judge convicted her.

However, court officials and prisons officials dragged her back into the dock. The judge was forced to rise after several women starting wailing in the court room.

One of them who made attempt to approach Maryam was ordered to be taken away by the judge.

Justice Yusuf Halilu rose for 5 minutes to return for sentencing. As at the time of filing this report, Maryam is still wailing and shouting “Inna lilahi Inna roji hun”, while efforts are being made by her family and lawyer to console her.

Our reporter heard her saying, “I was fasting and praying … Ya Allah, why?” as court officials announced that the judge was about to return for sentencing.

On resumption, Justice Halilu has sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.

The court found Sanda guilty of killing her husband and thus convicted her of the charges.

The judge said, "Convict clearly deserves to die. I therefore sentence Sanda to death by hanging."

She is to be remanded in Suleja Correctional Centre until she exhaust her appeal rights.

The coward attempted to run away after her sins found her out. She was brave enough to pull a knife and murder her sleeping husband but couldn’t stand and face the consequences of her action.

I’m happy justice was served without sentiments. She murdered her husband in cold blood while he was sleeping without any regard for the love they once shared and their innocent daughter. Her attempt to whip up sentiments during the trial by taking her baby to court made her appear more despicable. She’s a very callous woman who doesn’t deserve to live. Government should do quick and execute the judgement.

Before you commit any crime think about the consequence first, then you will see most actions doesnt even worth it. Whenever my wife make angry, will just take my car keys, drive to cool spot, get something to drink with better pepper soup. By the time I come back I would be in a better state of mind to handle the situation.

Good for her,in her next world she will learned how to keep her temperament..she can now join her late husband to balance the issue..best judgement of the month..Appeal and Supreme Court should please uphold the this verdict...rest in peace in advance..

You need to know the full story. She was a second wife (According to story, she took the man from the first wife).

As a Muslim, man was ready to take 3rd wife (Just guessing though but she saw a text on his phone and killed him).

She took a man and don't want the same man to be taken?

Allah or God is not unrighteous to exonerate evil and allow the injustice of murder to go unpunished. until she exhausts her appeal.i wish her a happy gallow-day and a happy death-day.

I feel so sad for her baby. The poor child will grow up without parents,why? Cos mother killed father and the law killed mother...its a pity.
