The report only says the defendant was not represented on the day the judgment was read. It doesn't indicate that he was not represented all through the trial.

By the way, if it's actually a default judgement, the judgment stands and cannot be summarily overturned, if there is proof of proper service and notices of hearing on Professor Odinkalu and he only chose not to defend himself.

True, but I wondered if it was necessary to specifically state that he was not represented by counsel when the judgment was pronounced. I find it odd that his counsel if he had any during the civil trial, would abandon him on the day that judgment was rendered on the case he had been a counsel. I was of the assumption that he had no counsel during the trial hence none by his side when the judgment was rendered. Thanks for your clarification anyways.
