Hello peeps

I'm creating this tread as a form of sensitisation on procedures/protocols to make travelling by air within Nigeria seamless and stress free for Nairalanders.
Though most of us have lots of travelling experiences, this thread will open our eyes to some of the hidden procedures that may be costing us our time/money and some other valuables

I'll also be discussing about cargo movements by air.
Key issues this thread will take care of includes:

I. Ticket e.g fresh booking, Ticket Payment, Rescheduling, Rerouting, Refunding etc

II. Check-in e.g Seat selection, Online Check-in, Counter Check-in, Offloading etc

III. Baggage packaging e.g Baggage Allowance, Contents Packaging, Dangerous Goods, Excess Baggage Payment etc

IV. Flight Boarding

V. Buying unaccompanied ticket

VI. Charter etc

CARGO SECTION
This section will cover the following:

I. Cargo packaging

II. Dangerous Goods

III. Charges on Cargo

IV. Clearing of Cargo

V. Live Animal Cargo i.e Birds, Dogs, Goats, Snakes, Pets in General

V. Human Remain; processing for cargo, Charges on Human Remain

VI. Documents
etc

Most of the above listed issues will be ironed out to enable us move within our airports with ease.

I will refer to myself as an experience ground aviation staff, with vast experience in Baggage, Cargo, Ticketing, Passenger Service.
I'll be dealing with these issues professionally and Asis in Nigeria Airports( Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, Murtala Muhammad International Airport Abuja.

A thing of note before starting; having a ticket does not guarantee you travelling.

In fact, having a boarding pass does not guarantee you travelling

.............. Continuation
I'll be using ABUJA - LAGOS as a case study

Getting a ticket is as simple as ABC, especially if you'd planned ahead of the travel day.
Planning ahead enable you select from multiple choices with cheap prices.

Note: NO AIRLINE IS IMMUNE TO DELAYS OR FLIGHT CANCELLATION, INFACT IT'S PART OF THE OPERATIONS.

There are so many factors that can cause delay, some are avoidable while most are beyond the power of the airline operators. But, any reasonable delay should not exceed an hour.

So, when getting a ticket always put in mind the 1 hour delay,

The best ticket to buy on any airline that may safe you of delays is the first flight on that day to your destination e.g
If you have a meeting for 11am in LOS, and you're leaving from ABV, the best flight to book on that same day is any first flight on any airline around 7am - 8am.

[b]An important note, do not book a flight to travel on the same day you have interview, Proposal defence, or any important event that may result in regret if you fail to attend it.

It's safe to always book a flight atleast a day ahead of your important program.
Also note, do not check-in any vital documents you cannot afford to loose with your bag. Always carry them onboard with you.
