Diego Simeone only has 16 senior players available for Atletico Madrid 's trip to face
Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Injuries have hit the likes of Diego Costa ,
Jose Gimenez , Santiago Arias and now Joao Felix , which means that they will have to watch the Madrid derby from the sidelines.
Koke and Kieran Trippier are in a race against time to be fit for the encounter and it doesn't look like either of them will be available.
The absence of the captain has been especially felt in the Atletico midfield, who haven't looked themselves without him.
There are also problems at right-back, with
Sime Vrsaljko set to be handed a start by default at the Bernabeu due to the injuries to Trippier and Arias .
The Croatian played his first game of football in over a year during Sunday's goalless draw with Leganes .
