Ah. Eri and Kanu. Two names that do not inspire me, nor do I recognize or acknowledge them with any sort of deference. Hm. This has nothing to do with my people then.

Few years ago, a man from Udi was also called Onye Anambra, and few 30yrs ago, a man from Abakaliki was also an Onye Anambra.

You don't have any point.
The Omanbala/Anambra nomenclature was used because of the history of the river in that region , the legends that lived there and the culture. For the fact that Ebonyi and Enugu were included in the old Anambra doesn't explain a single identity. We knew the difference.

Omanbala river doesn't flow through Idemili and nearly doesn't flow through 2/3 of Anambra state.
Omanbala River is an Anambra East, Ayamelum, Anambra West, Parts of Oyi thing.

It's expansion to include every other area outside the aforementioned is purely artificial.

Omanbala might actually be Igala derived. They call it Olamanboro and they have a LGA named after that same River in Kogi state .

No Idemili man knows what Omanbala River looks like its not our traditional River, apart from those aforementioned 4 LGAs, other 15 LGAs in Anambra don't have any link whatsoever to Omanbala River. Where did you say you are from again?
Re: . by BeijinDossier: 10:13pm On Feb 02, 2020
Your stupidity knows no bound. Your kind of person can spit on your father just to appear nice and appease outsiders.

Do you pretend that "Omambala" is not an anglicised version of "Anambra ".

That river you refer to is Omambala river, which came to be known later as Anambra river after Omambala was anglicised into Anambra.

Stop this your stupidity because it is not gonna take you anywhere

From Olamaboro to Omanbala, to Anambra.
That's the likely genesis of the name.

The point being raised is that Omanbala River culture is strictly restricted to the 4 LGA I mentioned, through which it flows through.
Omanbala expansion to Anambra and as a name for the rest of the 15 LGAs in the state, with exception of maybe Onitsha, is an artificial creation.
A far away Ebonyi man is as related to Omanbala river culture, as an Idemili man. An Igala from Kogi from Olamaboro LGA shares more in common in terms of Omanbala river culture with those 4LGAs than the rest of Anambra state.

Bottom line is that Anambra and indeed all states in Igboland are all artificial creations of Nigeria that have no place in Igbo cultural discussions.

Mechionu, inwero uche at all. Your type will use left hand to point to his father's house.

Omambala which was anglicised to mean Anambra predates Nigeria. Go and read books, if you think the nomenclature " Anambra " was a creation of the military.

Re: . by BeijinDossier: 10:35pm On Feb 02, 2020

Whoever is editing that Wikipedia page needs help.
Before Anambra state was created, the River was already called Anambra river by colonial masters.
So how then can they say the name of the state was derived from "Anam" and not from the River which predates the state?

River Anambra cannot be possibly have been derived from Anam as a town. Anam is not the most popular town around the area for the river to be named after it. It's just a coincidence that Anam sounds like Anambra.
And yes, Anambra as a state is an artificial creation of Nigerian military. It once included parts of current Ebonyi state.

So you have explained the "Mbala" part.
How about the "Oma" part?

So Omor metamorphosed to Oma? Sounds like those kind of "I no be Ibo, I be Bini" concocted oral stories where everything is distorted to fit into a prefixed conclusion/agenda.

Stop spewing nonsense nwokem. The nomenclature "Omambala " = "Anambra " is older than Nigeria. I don't know where you got your fake information.

Read again the origin of "Omambala " , it wasn't the creation of colonial masters.

Again the source is not wiki.

Is it not better to be an Igala man than to be an indigene of Abia state- which is the worst state in Nigeria?

Do you have any pride or dignity for being an indigene of Abia state which is by the way the worst of the worst states in Nigeria?

Even Kogi an Igala state is by far a better place than your Abia state. So what is your pride and dignity as an Abia indigene, Chidiebele? cheesy

Pazienza, we must continue . You can never separate "Omambala " from "Anambra", that's the point I am making.

The guy made a very good point but you dodged it. Lemme further explain it to you..

Abia state is by far the worst state in Nigeria, so what's point of being an Abia indigene?

Abia state is a dilapidated shithole, what's pride and dignity of being an Abia indigene.

Which means it is better to be an Igala man from Kogi, because in all sincerity Kogi state is by far a place better than the disgusting sewage pit toilet called Abia state.

Abia state is a disgrace to the igbos, so no one wants to publicly identify with the state even you people from Abia state.
