Katsina woman stabs husband to death over phone charger

A 17-year-old housewife, Rabi Rabi’u, who stabbed her husband, Shamsu Salisu, to death in Katsina State last Wednesday, has explained that a misunderstanding on who should first charge their mobile telephone led to a scuffle in which he died.

Rabi, who was paraded at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters on Tuesday, said amidst sobs that she never knew the stab could lead to the death of the 25-year-old Salisu.

According to her, the incident happened on Wednesday morning when public power supply was restored in their community and she wanted to charge her phones.


She said Salisu equally wanted to charge his phones at the same time.

She added the argument led to a scuffle between the two of them, adding that Salisu drew out a knife, which she snatched from him.

Rabi, who spoke in Hausa explained, “The incident happened early in the morning during prayer time. Public power supply was restored in our area and I wanted to charge my phones, while Salisu also wanted to charge his.


“Unfortunately, we were arguing over who should use the charger first when Salisu drew out a knife and I snatched it from him and stabbed him in the stomach and he later died.

“Our marriage was just 51-day-old and we were yet to have children, but I still love him. I never knew that the stab would lead to his death.

The spokesman for the command, SP Gambo Isah, while parading the housewife, said, “On January 29, 2020, around 5.30am, the DPO, Malumfashi Division, responded to a distress call based on a report that one Shamsu Salisu, 25, of the Almakiyayi village, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, had an altercation with his wife, one Rabi Rabi’u, 17, of the same address, but later while he was asleep, the wife stabbed him with a knife in several places in his body, including his abdomen.


“As a result, he sustained serious injuries. The police team rushed the victim to the Malumfashi General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

“In the course of investigation, the police recovered a sharp knife and a bed sheet stained with blood. Investigation is ongoing.”

The police also paraded about 46 suspects accused of various offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery and traffic infractions at the command’s headquarters on Tuesday

This is the natural trajectory of being a wailing zombie, first you peddle lies then next hate, then Full blown tribalism.

The inability to save the life of a stab victim is a failure of hospital systems in Nigeria.

Even a razor cut can lead to death in Nigeria. First you lose a lot of blood since no emergency ambulance, no any form of taking victim to hospital immediately.

Even when u get to hospital, no medical personnel to attend to you. Sometimes they need police report. Sometimes no treatment drugs and all that.

You keep on losing blood until you die off. I don't blame those who call Nigeria a zoo. Sentiment apart, to be a Nigerian is not a day job.

RIP man. Please lets ensure to stay out of trouble. Again, always have control of your anger.

Well everything is wrong with the union from the first moment.

Now you deny a girl an Education, she is not happy with the marriage and out of frustration, she kills the husband.

Now I'm not in support of the girl because she must take responsibility for her actions.
But at the same time, Education and exposure to a girl child goes a long way in solidifying the character of the girl.

Education does not teaches you how to read and write only, it teaches you how to communicate, how to control your temper and emotions, in general Education teaches you how to live with people.

But when you deny a girl child this, a girl from the village, you think marriage will make her happy?

If investigation is to be conducted, you will discover that the seventeen years old is in a force Marriage because of poverty.

The death could have been avoided, this is one of the things i was discussing with Tonyebarcanista in a thread.

Now the dead husband could not be man enough to approach any strong, Educated lady for marriage, instead he goes for a weak girl that has no opinion, now he is dead.

Now any girl can have good character, be her educated or not but you discover that some men wants a wife they can order around like maids and they run away from that lady that Educated, self dependent Lady, but in reality this Educated self dependent Ladies, makes the best wives and mothers to our kids.

Some people aren't just ok, they get easily provoked of the slightest thing, education does not cure anger.

Na wa o, here I am having sleepest night thinking of how I would persuade President Buhari to abrogate the death sentence penalty because of Maryam Sandas and all this women want to turn us to endanger species.I don't like the idea of women been hanged but this Nigeria women are surely not from Venus.

This story sounds too wild to be true. This would be a really dumb reason to go to prison. She could've used another outlet. The best plot twist would be she doesn't pay the light bill.

No it was not lack of Education but at the same time.

What I'm saying is that Education makes you to be aware of the consequences of some certain decisions you want to make and it's the consequences are bad, you tends to let go.

Education affords you the ability to reason.
