The #4 was initially inclusive of 5% VAT. That means the actual price of SMS was #3.81, while VAT (5%) was #0.19 (19 kobo). Now that VAT is 7.5%, that means that the new VAT is #0.29 (29 kobo), making the total of #4.10 (3.81+29).

Im just laughing,the notification of vat deduction that they were not doing when vat was 5%,they are now deducting it at 7.5%.this has nothing to do with the government,the network operators are just rogue.vat should only be applicable to recharge cards.this is double taxation

The gsm operators had always remit VAT @ 5% to the government. This is included in your call tariff unknown to you since you were reluctant to buy airtime at N100 instead of N120
