Notorious Windows 10 Data Consumption by McSterling(op): 8:40am On Feb 07, 2020
Hi guys.

I've been having data consumption issues on Windows 10 home edition. I use a Lenovo ideapad 110. My WiFi connection is metered and I have also disabled windows update under both services and group policy. I also turned off background apps data.

The problem is that I rarely get any warning when I'm drawing close to the metered limit. And when I finally get the notification that I have reached the limit, my data would have been consumed far far beyond the limit. This happens even when I've barely loaded a page on my browser. I have no idea what is responsible for the data consumption. I have checked both data usage overview and app history under task manager, but they show very little data consumption, mostly zero or less than 2 MB. I suspect windows updates are somehow still running irrespective of all the restrictions I've put in place.

Please help me out if you can. I've run out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

* Disable windows update

* Set your wifi connection as 'metered'

* Check how to do those on Google

Already did all these but the problem persists.

Do you mean disabling apps allowed through firewall?
