After the judgment the second person became winner but in Imo the 4th person became winner. Can you imagine that?

I honestly think this serves as a consolation for the Imo verdict. So all parties should let go their grievances. At least, the Supreme Court has balanced the case.

Op, are you sure its Justice Mary Odili that delivered the lead judgment?
Or you are biased in this report?

This is coming from a neutral person. Should Justice Mary Odili be sitting on such a case considering she was a first lady to a former governor who is a member of one of the two parties she was presiding on? I personally think bias judgement or emotional one won't be inevitable.

An APC mod here moved this thread to FP. Single person thought is now the whole of bayelsa...

Nairaland pursuing APC agenda since 1910
They think we don't know what they are doing.

The headline is totally partisan from the mods....no link...nothing!

They had to rephrase, and fix in ThisDay.

Why is Mary Odili's name tied to the judgement? Was name of the Judge that headed the panel of Suoreme Court Judges that presided over Imo election saga tagged to that judgement?
I abhor this hypocrisy. sad

Because of this statement and especially the emboldened part.

A five man panel of the apex court presided by Justice Mary Peter-Odili nullified the election of Lyon

The Supreme court has spoken, which should be final, as it is all over the world.

It all depends on who the indigenes of Bayelsa want and not what the Hypocrites that have never stepped their feet on Bayelsa state are shouting about.

For those of us that are not card carrying members of any political party, but only vote for good men and women that we believe can move their immediate environment forward (same reason all of us @ voted for our darling Daddy in the presidential election and voted for another candidate in another party in our state of residence, no apologies ro Sanwo-Olu!)

It is sad that the days intellectuals (from opposing and different political affiliations) discuss politics on the political threads on Nairaland is gone and now it has gone to kids, hypocrites and dirty agberos that curse and abuse their mothers and fathers with no reasonable and sensible posts to contribute)

Lastly......

It is a always good and refreshing to see that we have a President who does not intervene in the rule of law.

Elections In Nigeria now,
There is no need to fear.
Why? Because the will of Nigerians will not be subverted. Never! A President once told us in this country that the coming polls would be do or die.
Not with President Buhari. Fair is fair. No foul play. Under his watch, his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Oyo State and Anambra states.
At the last Council of States meeting, Gov Willie Obiano publicly registered his appreciation to President Buhari, for the level playing ground he made available during the election in his state. With do or die apostles, and a certain political party in power, such would never happen. Not with their garrison mentality. All states are territories that must be conquered, willy-nilly.

APC has won gubernatorial positions under Buhari in Kogi, Ondo and Edo states. The victories were fair and square. The party lost in Bayelsa, Oyo, Anambra etc.
This President would never manipulate victory for anyone, not even his own party. And you ask us not to trust him?
We will, and no mistake.

God bless our darling Daddy President Muhammadu Buhari.
God bless Nigeria.

When we talk let's always try to put an answer to what is causing debates not making it more complicated. There is a clear difference between who presided and who read. They are two different words. She presided over a panel of 5 but another person read it out.

You can't separate politics from the Justice System.
We only pray they act on their consciences.

Bulkachuwa is the Appeal Court President, and married to an APC stalwart.

The son of Rhodes-Vivour (the second most senior Judge in the Supreme Court) contested the Senatorial zone of Lagos West under PDP.

Odili was also part of the Judges that affirmed Okororcha's victory in 2011, nonetheless Ohakim (from PDP) was on the losing side.

If you ask her to recuse herself from every case then, she won't handle any case because many cases of the SC are politically-intertwined.

You won't blame the lady, she had joined the judiciary before she even married her husband, so wetin make she do?

She didn't even take the lead judgement sef/.

Listen, let me explain to you.

Who reads the lead judgement is the person who have the strengthiest of arguments, most of the time.

Some of them just concur with who has the most superior arguments amongst themselves.

It is not a political speech where you just go and read someone else's judgement anyhow.

As a nation, we need to take actions so things like this never happens again. What will be the faith of APC deputy governor elected. Will he forge certificate and still go free when he has deprived loving bayelsans of their choice.
This case is not a case of APC and PDP rather it's between the will of the people against a fraudulent result forger. The court ruling should not just stop by declaring PDP winner but also jailing the useless forger.

Apt.

Nobody is even calling the man's name.

Someone who by now, should have been tied at the National Secretariat of the APC and flogged thrice a day...before handing him to the ICPC for prosecution.

Neutrality is the watch word.

The thread was simply opened by one ejom to express his thought

Then inserting off link to the topic is biased journalism.

As far as punch, nation, vanguard are sometimes criticised for going off partisan, nairaland is no different.

As painful as the judgment may seem, especially to the Governor elect and the majority of Bayelsans that voted him, the decision was a unanimous one. The 5 judges consented to the judgement. So Justice Mary Odili should not be drawn into APC's own doing.

Why didn't APC do the needful even after the same deputy was indicted by High Court for certificate forging? This I think should make political parties do their own background checks on candidates before fielding them for elections. Case closed!!!

....and a Court ruled years back that Odili cannot and must not be probed for all his activities as a governor. Till today, that obnoxious injunction has not been lifted. If former governors are being probed why is Odili different? She has continued to use the Judiciary as a willing tool. So sad.
